Two years.
Two years ago, Jedek and I decided to found Tides of Silence
Based on a simple idea : this is a game, a game which, to be fully enjoyed, requires some dedication, at least quite some different skills. Our plan since corp creation was simple : build a group, as closely-knit as we could, and be self-sufficient as a corp, and make our corpmates self sufficient. every single action of the corp has the goal to improve the corp, its home or our members skills.
There are many things were the most active can provide something to those who are more casual gamers. If those are good friends, things come a lot more naturally.
Simple, utopic, naive ideas, but a lot more difficult to make real.
Our slogan is "just Chilling" since this time, a relaxed corp based on free will. a group oriented corp, regardless of the initial "quality" of the avatar. If the guy shows good will, we will get somewhere.
We started as guests in Ushra-Khan space, living from one med pos near 9uy. it was really a fun time. space "quality" was awful on the nowadays standard, but damn did we enjoy our freedom. Many of our older corpmates are still there from this time.
After a while, we decided an alliance would be needed for us. We decided for a complete change of scenery and moved up north, totally at random, and we were accepted into Smash. Things did not really work out well as Smash at this time was pretty "hardcore" and asking a lot from members, most of them being too new to the game or not enough experienced to provide.
A friend of us talked about Hydra at this time, which was a 30+yrs old group (that's how we learnt from it, it appeared as Pure space and noone knew about Hydra). We were accepted and happily came.
I know it's CAOD and Hydra is flamed left and right atm, however we found a home there. At this time Hydra was really unstable and i like to think we provided a bit of stability in the group. not the main reason but we did our part.
From there over the last 18 months our corp has been, as part of alliance, involved in rebuying 2 outposts, and investing entirely for one, 5 rather large scale wars as members of NC in assault, defense or as primary targets,
Most of all, our corporation continued its development and its simple goal: self sufficience. We were so proud when we built our first Battlecruisers, now we followed the standard growth curve so its bigger toys, but the enjoyment remains the same.
My corpies are the reason i play this game. Our corp was and is a "low maintenance" one, where our members have the attitude i enjoy to see in eve.
Today Tides celebrates its second birthday.
We did not do any BBQ yet but i could enjoy a lot of beers with corpmates around, including 2 that are right now at my home for a visit. (and i gave them both keys so im locked out argh!)
Continuing our path, Tides from tonight will come back as a single entity, and focus on what we currently need to improve, our capital fleet and our pvp skills.
We decided to part ways with Hydra, a friendly way. before the flamewall starts, It's not related to Triumvirate invasion we saw recently, and i will not get on the reasons.
Now our move is done, we are coming back in the fight as blue friends in Hydra space to help shoot some targets with our NC mates, and taking a month of deserved vacations to go explore other areas of eve and do random goofing around.
I hope i will have the opportunity to celebrate the 3rd birthday the same way :)
I personally thank our dirs for the very nice organization now corp shoes, and all the current and past Tides members for their trust, and Hydra for the fun years there. Our friends and foes have to be thanked the same way, and i hope our lack of hardcore pvp training was partially compensated by the energy we show to learn.
I know i am biased, but i wish every corp the same loyalty, fun in corp chat and attitude that i have the luck to see everyday in corp chat.
for me, it's a game, people make it fun, but corpies make it great :)

My BS Radar went off so loud it woke me up this morning. See, I read this as:
We are cutting our losses so we took what we still could and left before everything we owned was destroyed. We are keeping blue status in case Hydra survives, so we will still have access to 0.0.
See, that's what I read it as. I mean lets face facts here. The reason why you won't say anything is because this is in fact one way directly or indirectly related to Tri but your trying to save face to retain your 0.0 status (of being kept docked) and keep the NC blue.
My points of argument: You purchased outposts and fully funded one, which are currently being taken away from you. Multi Billions.
All your lovely poses are being wiped out and reguardless of how many people rat, that is taking a hit in the wallet. For those saying "I only spent 4 bil on all our poses, that didn't hurt"....well, give me 4 bil if your so careless. (because those people will say it, to save face).
Your either docked or losing ships (from what I see anywho). Either way, not a whole lot of fun so you have a strong possibility of loosing members because they can't do what they want to do. Kinda like me, posting crap on the forums.
So why not head out? As you said, your relaxed, not up the gut marines who know how to pvp. You like to mine, rat, and do indy stuff. It's cool.
On a subject of non flame: Grats on your two years, seriously. Keeping people together for two years aint easy.

Happy B-day Tides. Hydra and you guys were the first time I ever ventured into 0.0 space, and I appreciate the fun I had up there in the Vale with you. You'll always have friends in BPH Splag.

I think I can speak for the whole of Tri when we think your corp seemed to be for a " just chilling" corp pretty well represented in most fleets we've had the pleasure to engage.
Splag is one cool dude with the right attitude to the game hope you and your corp find some place else to learn the game.

I can tell you all here that flying with
Splagada and the rest of these guys and girls
has been an absolute Blast .
Ive been in Tides almost since it started , and it has never been boring.
Mindless chat banter at it's best .
We were in Providence with Brotherhood of Steel ,
when Splagada ( in his infinate wisdom ) launched
all the ships we had in our very first pos at once !!!!
They were everywhere !!! Lmao
I also had the pleasure of hearing Splag sing
" FrFre Jacques " on vent the night his son was born.
( he's french you know so it was an official version of that song)
And that was just a couple of the things
that make Tides such a great place to be .
It's funny how playing internet spaceships you can make friends all around the world .No matter where you are from , Eve finds a common ground we all seem to enjoy.

Splag is a star, he is always there for corps members, I left Tides but came back as i just did'nt get the same feeling anywhere else, only one proviso on Splag don't lend him your carrier. Im certainly not going to leave again no matter where we end up

You can relax and chill in Jita when you are docked. In 0.0 space it's hard to do and I wouldn't go back there if I want to chill.
