Garbage.
Lame troll.
That article doesn't say Eve is WoW in space.
In fact, troll is probably the wrong word. Liar is more accurate. |

Actually, this thread proves that scamming still has a place in Eve. The OP is an alt of the article author. He just wanted more people to read it.

Edited by: Sheriff Jones on 26/08/2008 23:08:20 EVEN if it was about that, yeah, it's REALLY bad that CCP are trying to get more people into the game 'cause more people = more RL iskies = more content/faster servers/better service.
I'm so ****ed that CCP is trying to get more players here
That was sarcasm btw.

Adding new content can't create WoW in Space because the core gameplay is still there.
Bringing in more subscriptions is good for EVE, especially if they are more interested in Ambulation and STFU about the main game. Unlike, say, mission runners. -

Either you are a clueless n00b (from the look of your exclamation picture), who simply dont understand EVE. Or you are a troll who created an alt for trolling.
EVE will always have a place for scammers!ö Seeing I am taking you for being a stupid n00b I wont bother report the thread for trolling.
However, I would advice you to find yourself a different bridge to flame from. We prefer to keep the forums as clean as possible from trolls and cluecless lemmings who dont know jack bout the game.

I'm concerned about the dev blog on suicide ganking but to be honest it never really made sense. The nerf on joining and leaving warring corps is a bit annoying because that was one of the few ways to get around the ridiculously overpowered intelligence-gathering device called LOCAL. Now there's nothing left but AFK cloaking and maybe hot-dropping.

Boys, and you are mainly boys, the world of gaming is changing and you can blame Nintendo for the change. Instead of playing catchup with the XBox and PS2 they went their own way and created that wittle marvel, the Wii.
And just look at its sales figures. And then look at the demographics of its buyers. And then are you won't be surprised that any games company which has any ambition wants to emulate them.
So if you are a hardcore gamer, the future is a bit glum for you. All I can offer as a bit of advice is.... adapt or die.

I read the article and he actually said the opposite. The fundamental design is not to change.
You're taking one mention of mass market and project your assumptions into it - proving nothing.
Helping new players into the game is hardly a bad thing. Eve University and others have done so for years already.
Now imagine new players not being surprised abput the fact that you can catually get attacked in empire space and that it is only safish - not safe. Being better prepared for that would make for less whining on the forum. I like it. --- ISK BUYER = LOOSER EVE TV- Bring it back!

How can the game not be changed when they have already made contradictory statements? I think you need to train "I wont post fanboi bullcrap" to level 5.

All that said though, the ability to easily create conditions where a player corp can arbitrarily bypass the penalties for non-consensual combat in highsec space is unjustifiable as a design goal, and indeed flatly contradicts core design elements (the existance of highsec space) for no good reason. This applies doubly so while the mechanics necessarily compel players to leave social structures (corporations) in order to avoid becoming victim to such mechanics. If it can cleanly be removed, it should be. Allowing a player corp full of hardened combat veterans to pay a relatively small amount of money and be able to freely and without penalty attack a small group of players with whom they have absolutely no past relationship and who represent neither any kind of threat nor any kind of challenge and whose death will generate no rewards is absolutely a pay-to-grief system - indeed, it's a definitive example - and I don't see how it has any place in this game. And no, the phrase "cold uncaring universe" is not shorthand for "griefer's paradise", as the latter would contain far too many elements of pure farce to qualify as the kind of serious setting that I believe was the original intent behind the phrase.
tl;dr I have no intention of apologizing for the things I have said on this issue - I stand by them completely, and I fully support Hammer's position on the subject as well, both because I believe the position they represent is fully justified and because to support the contrary opinion (that it's OK for people to grief if they feel like it provided they jump through one small hoop first) would IMO lead the game down a path which would kill it stone dead, and I have no intention of letting that happen
Here is a CCP dev describing a pvp activity that has been allowed and acceptable since the game began as "Griefing" and you and others claim there has been no large shift in the devs philosophy and the game wont change?

Bud, they're looking at what the war-dec system has become over time. War decs aren't inherantly griefing, they're being used to grief. They aren't saying that they want to remove war-decs. They haven't even said with any specificity what they plan to do with them. So, unless you are using them to grief, you probaby shouldn't get your tighty-whities in a twist just yet. How about we see what they come up with, which, if they are true to form, they will talk about some before it actually goes live.
