Is it in any way possible to get hold of the CD Key for OS you currently have installed should you have tossed the piece of paper it was on?

Also, most Windows OS tend to store their CD key unencrypted in the registry, you can usually find it in there too.

I never understood why the CD key was printed on a sticker attached to the CD packets shrink wrap. Its like they are asking for you to throw the key out with the trash. |

Or the manual... What happened to putting the code on the case itself? ----- The above does not represent the opinions of my corp or alliance. |

OEM versions come with a case sticker though. Which is exactly where my code is, on the side of my case.

Magic Jellybean Keyfinder also works.
Of course, this is only for finding your OWN key when you have lost it.
If you choose to engage in software piracy, I wash my hands of you.

I was refering to programs in general. Many new programs, especially EA Games (horrid bunch of idiots..) like to print the keys on the manual that nobody ever reads and 75% or better throw away...
Why not just print it on the jewel case/dvd box like EVERYONE did when cd keys first came out? ----- The above does not represent the opinions of my corp or alliance. |
