Was playing eve normally on a vista machine with a 8800 GTX vid card. Went to alt tab to turn vent on and screen started to flicker and then got the blue screen of death.
This is the first BSOD I have seen on vista. Restarted and tried to start eve again, it just loads up and nothing happens.
Used the log exe and it says my vid card can't be found.
Tried new drivers and nothing, tried to reinstall eve, nothing.
What can I do?

Fix your computer.
BSOD are normally the result of hardware failures. Or device driver interactions.
If you have installed anything recently that is a likely culprit.
Ensure all expansion cards and memory sticks are properly seated. If you have been overclocking some parts of your system then stop it and consider replacing that part (this is why overclocking is a bad idea).
Bottom line:It is unlikely to be Eve causing the BSOD. Like all applications it doesn't have a high enough privilege level for that. It can cause some other part of your system to screw up but only be exposing a fault in that system.
IOW if your graphics card is badly configured or not properly seated then Eve can trigger a BSOD by asking the card to perform some operation. That is not, however, Eve's fault. -- (Sarcastic mission running veteran, 4+ years)

Similar thing happened to me too today I undocked and got BSOD when I restarted I had a similar problem; eve starts but nothing comes up.
Logserver reports: 18778 : trinity.TriDevice: HRES:none(none) There is no D3D device available
These two errors seem to keep looping. Im using win XP and have a radeon x1800 GTO.
Will post back if i come up with a solution

Edited by: Cleos on 27/08/2008 23:32:17 I have done a reinstall and still nothing.
I get the same error:
11 : trinity.TriDevice: HRES:none(none) There is no D3D device available
Can't be my vid card, COD 4 and Company of Heroes work fine.
I'm out of answers.
**Edit I have had this computer since November and Eve has run fine till now. Nothing is overclocked.

First, Make sure you've got the latest version of DirectX! At worst you can try to downgrade to a lower DirectX version and then re-install. Also please let us know if you're running the premium or classic client.
Second, try reloading the latest drivers, if they still don't work then try the lat 2 driver versions, sometimes newest drivers will have problems. Remember that BSOD isn't always caused by graphics cards so try updating your sound drivers as well please.
Remember that being able to run other games fine does not mean that your drivers are fine. EVE gets updated several times a year, meaning it's running newer code that older drivers may not handle well where as Crysis and many other games does not have that problem so old drivers will generally work fine with them.
Third, can you please post a DxDiag?
Saving a DXDiag
1. Select "Start" -> "Run..." 2. Type "dxdiag" and press Enter 3. Select the "Save all information..." button and save the file in a place you'll find it again.
Finally, ensure that you do not have Anti-Aliasing enabled in the Nvidia control panel, because EVE uses HDR we cannot support AA. (This is because DirectX does not support HDR+AA)

Well it seems my computer was acting up a bit when I eventualy got it to start up today everything seemed to be behaving correctly.
I don't think the things I did actually fixed it but heres what I did incase it helps at all:
- delete cache
- boot into safe mode
- boot back into windows
- eve now works
