HEIMATAR, MINMATAR REPUBLIC - Two weeks ago Majoris Corporation suffered a vast corporate theft that left it's employees scattered across the galaxy and its vaults drained of ISK and materials. The scheme was a simple affair by D'Dread, a Minmatar con-artist who managed to work his way into the inner circle of Majoris (MJR). Once there, he patiently gained the trust of key Directors and access to the infrastructure of the corporation.
Ten days ago, D'Dread struck. He emptied Majoris of its ISK and stole a vast majority of its assets in corporation hangers. At the same time, he managed to gain enough shares to ward off attempts by the Board of Directors to remove him even as he fired a vast number of employees via notices. He also initiated an attempted WAR Declaration against VETO Corporation--nixed only minutes from implemenation by the Majoris CEO, Dmitrius Wolf.
Dmitrius Wolf agreed to an interview by the Heimatar Republic Chronicle Wire Service:
Q: So, exactly how much was stolen?
Dmitrius: We're not sure, we do know that at least 50 Million ISK were taken, possibly more and the corporation's assets are compromised due to the theft of corporate shares. I was not diligent enough and has to tend my resignation.
Q: Who is this D'Dread, where did he come from?
Dmitrius: We were a new corporation with the misfortune to hire D'Dread as a Personnel Manager. His accomplice, Igneous Vextalios, was in on this job too. Between them, they gained the trust of Majoris' Inner Circle. The theft has shattered this corporation and it will not recover.
Q: Were you able to track down D'dread?
Dmitrius: No. In the mass confusion, nobody thought to keep tabs on him and he managed to slip away from our tracking. Even so, we were fortunate enough to be contacted by K.O.R. Corporation and its CEO, Jack Bower. K.O.R. was doing routine background checks and D'Dread had just joined that corporation.
Q: What was the reaction by K.O.R?
Dmitrius: It's the one bit of good news for me. K.O.R. looked into this matter and found evidence that proved our case. I was informed that they have 'dealt' with D'Dread in the harshest of jurisprudence.
Q: Any further word on D'Dread?
Dmitrius: No. He's slipped away again...but I hope to find him one day. Even so, I'm officially retired from any corporate power structure.
Q: We see that you and a few MJR fled to Valley Forge.
Dmitrius: They were kind enough to take in a remnant of our corporation. Even so, I would warn all CEOs to be highly suspicious of D'Dread if he attempts to join your corp...especially if you're a bit new and inexperienced at corporate management as I appear to be.

Although I am sure such robberies occur on a weekly, maybe eve daily bases in New Eden, I can't help but feel sad for you and your corp, Dmitrius. 'Personal stories make the pain worse' they say, and in this case it's true. Hopefully, D'Dread will not get in to another corp and wreck it as well...
Anyhow, I wish you and your former corpmates luck in all your doings, and hope that someday you manage to get Majoris back up on its feet again. ----------------------------------------------

Hm. Well, while I'm certain that this set-back seemed to be a devastating loss to Wolf and MJR, they have to look at things in the proper perspective.
Wolf tells the Chronicle that the corporation was young, and admits to being inexperienced in corporate management. He also cites 50 million ISK with additional material assets having been 'compromised'. Frankly, 50 million ISK is less than half of a properly-fit battlecruiser. I must assume that the assorted assets in question were BPOs, BPCs and minerals, possibly construction components and fuel for control towers (though perhaps not).
What I'm getting at, here, is that the corporation sounds like it had just begun... learning a lesson like this when you only have two or three hundred million ISK worth of assets to lose is a lot better than learning this lesson when your corporation is worth tens of billions (or more).
DFIAS suffered a setback like this when our former Industrial Director robbed us for nearly 8 billion (2b liquid, the rest in the form of blueprints, minerals, T2 construction components and capital construction components) a couple of months ago. Through various means, we convinced the thief (whom we have never named publicly, nor will we ever) to return roughly 5 billion ISK worth of hard assets. The rest had been liquidated or otherwise consumed and was unrecoverable - c'est la vie, as the Gallente might say.
Yet, DFIAS is still a fully functional corporation, with the same Industrial and Combat wings we had before, during and now after that 'crisis'.
A theft is no reason to dissolve a corporation.
Finally, it is implied that K.O.R. took the liberty of giving this D'Dread a new clone - good for them. Their CEO was wise in contacting former employers of a potential recruit. That's a lesson that Wolf should keep in mind the next time he finds himself at the helm of a capsuleer corporation.
