I petitioned an issue in-game, and a GM responded saying I should clear my cache to fix it. I did so, and now eve does not start. It freezes on the splash screen and exefile.exe shoots up to 100% cpu. I completely uninstalled everything and reinstalled, same issue. wtf CCP. ---------------------------

My EVE client just started doing the same thing. On the 27/08/2008 - yesterday - I was playing EVE fine. When i tried running the game later the same day, EVE got as far as displaying the splash image and spiking the CPU. However, for a full 30mins nothing happened, until I finally gave up. I have tried clearing the cache with no result... Please help...

I did backup my cache before this, and putting it back doesn't help at all. help please  ---------------------------

I can't have the access to log in removed for me too long...I'll have to do a complete reinstall of my system soon if this isn't resolved, and I really don't want to do that =/

Did you try clearing out your cache AND your settings?
CACHE/Settings locations:
2000/XP C:\documents and settings\username\Local Settings\Application Data\CCP\EVE\client_folder_location Vista C:\Users\username\AppData\Local\CCP\EVE\client_folder_location ____________________________ I break things.

Edited by: Sythyss on 28/08/2008 11:22:48 cache and settings have both been cleared multiple times. I have also run the uninstaller with the option of removing all preferences and stuff it gives at the end.

what originally caused the issue and the specific way I cleared the cache was by doing it in-game, initially. going to esc, w/e tab it's in, etc, telling it to wipe the cache.

problem solved. apparently eve can't run at 1680x1050 resolution, even tho the rest of my comp can, and since it was my default res that's what it was starting up as. When I changed my default res to something lower it started up fine.

Yeah, I'm burning here, getting pretty jacked off... 
What is my problem unique or something?! I don't have a settings folder and my cache is empty. I'm trying a uninstall/reinstall, and if that doesn't work then there's not much more i can do... Shame because I really got into this game. And i got 1 month of the 3 that I subscribed for. Lets hope it doesn't come to that, I just got myself organised.
