Hi!
Just wondering here, what would be considered to be fair amount of DPS for each class of ships with moderate skills? Ofcourse this is dependant of fitting and thingamajicks but a rough estimate would be nice :-)
There's no need to venture beyond battleships but hey, if you want to, I won't mind. |

Varys way too much, some cruisers have troulbe breaking 200 dps (caracal) and some can easily deal well over 500 (vexor).
I guess for a damage BS your looking for 1000+ to be in the high bracket. But for sniper BS its gonna be like 400+ as high bracket...

Edited by: Cpt Branko on 28/08/2008 13:21:21 Generally (assuming top-notch skills, short range damage oriented fits, very hard to give a estimate which is correct for all ships of a class):
Frigate - 120 DPS (more for blaster frigs, less for some missile frigs, etc) Assault Frigate - 180-ish DPS for the not so ganky AFs, 250-260 DPS for the gank ones
Cruiser - 300 DPS for the not so ganky cruisers, 500 DPS for the gank fit cruisers HAC - 400 DPS to 700+ DPS for the gankier ones
Battlecruisers - 600 DPS for the 'tank' BCs, 800 DPS for the 'gank' BCs Field Command Ships - 700-900 DPS
Battleships - 600 (for tank fits on tank-oriented BS) - 1200+ DPS (on totally gank fit ships)

the gank AFs can push 300+ DPS
You would think CCP would have added things like, "Amarr", "CCP", "Microwarpdrive", etc. to their forum dictionary.

just to note a full tanked pest (1 large rep 1 1600 plate 3 eanm 1 dcu) can deal 774 dps, thats with maxed skills. i just dont see bs' under 600dps unless you mean scorpion or dominix with neutralizers/remote reps

It's not hard with a faction fit. For PVE you can get away with that. I run missions with a nighthawk that easily (like no damage) tanks entire lvl4 missions and deals 650+dps. His DPS doesn't touch mine (CNR gank at 1000+ ish) but my tank is a joke next to his.

Well sure but were talking realistic "on average" figures here, not a pimped lev 4 dps boat. poudly annoying fc's since 2007

Okay how are people getting these high DPS battleships? Seriously. Nearly full T2 with all skills at 4 on this char and my BSes according to EFT are from 400-550 DPS.
Am I missing some key skill or something to get another 200+ DPS?

Depends on the ship. Not all ships will be hitting for 1000 dps, and keep in mind those that two are only dealing that damage at shorter ranges. Faction gear, implants, T2 weapons, max skills can help push that DPS up as well.

Has to be the faction gear and implants. I don't use either of those. My skills are near max for my main battleship. Extra 5% here and there is nice and I will get it but it won't increase my DPS from 450 to over 600 even. Maybe one day I will look at the higher faction stuff and implants. Just always wondered is all.

It'd also help to know what ship you're using, heh. If it's a cruise raven, those won't be reaching 1000 dps or anything like that. A torp raven, sure, you can get it up there. Also, you need to know whether the numbers people are giving include drones or not. I usually don't include my drones in my DPS when giving numbers, since I only have my drones out for frigate clean up.

Edited by: Duncan MacPherson on 28/08/2008 18:53:45 This is my standard mission raven I sometimes use. I usually use a phoon and I realize that its DPS will be lower. But this is my raven with my current skills
Lows: Ballistic Control System II Ballistic Control System II Power Diagnostic System II Power Diagnostic System II Power Diagnostic System II
Mids: X-Large Shield Booster II Invulnerability Field II Photon Scattering Field II Heat Dissipation Field II Large Shield Extender II Shield Boost Amplifier I
Highs: XT-9000 Cruise Launcher, Paradise Cruise Missile XT-9000 Cruise Launcher, Paradise Cruise Missile XT-9000 Cruise Launcher, Paradise Cruise Missile XT-9000 Cruise Launcher, Paradise Cruise Missile XT-9000 Cruise Launcher, Paradise Cruise Missile XT-9000 Cruise Launcher, Paradise Cruise Missile
Rigs: Capacitor Control Circuit I Capacitor Control Circuit I Capacitor Control Circuit I
Drones: Valkyrie II x5
Firepower - DPS 340 - Volley 2737
Obviously I change out ammo - drones - hardners depending on the mission. Currently it makes lvl 4s way easy. Its why I use my typhoon. More challenge. But I just can't make my dps get that high. Even when I swap out for T2 cruise it only gets me an extra 100 or so.
Actually looking at my Typhoon build it does 430 DPS - Volley 713
So the phoon has higher sustained dps

With t2 cruise and 3 BCS, a max skilled Raven will be hitting for 450 dps. CN cruise/BCS will improve this, as will implants. The advantage of the Raven is 1) range and 2) damage type selection. It will deal that 450 dps at any range it can target, and can always deal the type of damage the enemy is most vulnerable to. It's not all about the raw EFT numbers.

So what I am getting then is my numbers look fine for what I have. For the most part I try to ignore EFT #s except for my tank. All my ships do lvl 4 missions solo fine so I am not complaining. I was just trying to understand how these people were getting numbers so high. After messing around with things I can see it isn't that hard. Just expensive.

EFT numbers are very useful, but you have to understand what they mean, and how they apply. That's where most people falter, heh.

True, but the NH sucks, no PG for HAMs/etc ;P

I was talking about T2 fits, etc - and short range damage oriented (not unrealistically gank, of course) fits. Naturally sniping ships without T2 weapons do much much less DPS.
Generally, mission fits do sucky DPS, I was not talking about mission fits.
Just scale the DPS down when you're considering lousier skills, and sniper fits do less.
