Sandler's cover made me actually like that song.
The greatest is, of course, Jimi doing "All Along the Watchtower".
I also love Manson's covers as well as Disturbed's.
Oh, and the Man in Black made some excellent ones on his final album, especially "Dirt".

The whole Nativity in Black Album. Proabably the greaset cover album I have ever listened to. The second one is also good, but the first is A-1 grade top of my list.

It's a sin (cover)
Most covers suck because they sound too much like the original - it has to be something else for there to be a point of the cover version.
(BTW thanks to Hira for showing me this cover version of a classic Pet Shop Boys song)

That is so true, and you jogged my memory of a superb cover of Genesis's Land of Confusion done by In Flames. I love the original, I grew up on it, but it almost seems that with the content of the song in consideration, it is actually more appropriate that it was convered by In Flames then being created by Genesis.

Agreed with the Johnny Cash. The original sounds whiny (I like NIN). Out of his mouth it becomes poignant.
I love the original and generally covers of it suck but this really works.
I heard this before the original.
And now the end is near

Johnny Cash = great stuff, and the sweet little "love will tear us apart" cover was ok too (I prefer the original tho), but this thread needs some Laibach
