Ok, since I joined this game I keep hearing about "ZOMGCOSMOS!"
But I've looked on the map, and looked for these things a few different ways in game and it seems like there isn't a way in-game to locate these magical places.
Is there any way to do this? Or do you just have to "know" where they are??

Try looking in the in-game tutorials.

There is a map filter that shows cosmos deadspaces. How much easier do you want it to be?
FYI: don't start running cosmos until you've read the mission guides. They are interlocked missions that you should do in a certain order or you may not be able to complete them.

And let me guess: No way to tell this from in-game w/o relying on out-of-game mission guides or FAQs?

We did many years ago before the guides or FAQs were released. And tbh mate if you dont you the guides then enjoy your slow progression in EVE
PS. Yet your using a forum which is OOG to find out about these cosmos bundles of joys... **********

Even if you flew INTO a COSMOS how would you know you were there? And I DO use the OOG tools and guides (obvious, as I'm here)...I just think it's bad game design when they're required for doing game-integral things like this.
edit: However - if they map filter mentioned is there and does work as expected, then it's not really required and I'm just unobservant.

By the time you have the 4.0 Standings required to run cosmos missions its expected that you know how to find them. Its all about communication in multiplayer games.
The lack of official guides, and the system of 'OOG tutorials' is something Eveplayers have allways had to rely on, I think the devs made the system the way it is so that players would interact more and create their own guides.

I can't find any COSMOS map filter. You can filter for DED Reports or DED Agent Reports (not 100% sure what the difference is), but neither shows anything that has any sort of "COSMOS" label on it.
Also, 90% of the players I've talked to in-game (alliance, corp, help channels, etc) have no clue about anything to do with COSMOS.
It really seems like a mostly unused feature from my perspective.
Maybe if it was more visible more people would know about/use it.

Look for clusters of complexes marked on f10 map along with Landmarks for each constellation. Main 4 = one for each major empire in hi-sec - that have all the agents/missions. A few other agents/locations scattered about in lo-sec. 8 more lo-sec consts plus 8 more 0.0 consts are also marked and some people call them 'Cosmos areas' - these are the booster gas cloud areas tho [Synths and Standards respectively.]

I can't find any way to filter for "Landmarks" in the map - how do yoy filter for those? What folder/tab is the filter under?
As for the complexes - I still can't seem to find any way to differentiate betwen the normal ones and the COSMOS ones - except that there are little clusters of ones that are higher than level 1-2. I assume these are the COSMOS ones?
How hard would it be for CCP to just add a filter for "COSMOS Complex/System" to the map?

It almost seems like CCP wants them to be hard to find.
I pulled up the knowledgebase on "What and where are the 0.0 COSMOS plexes?"
It says what they are, and how to know if your'e at one...but gives no clues as to where they are or how to find them.

Looks like the only guides & OOG info I can find for COSMOS was written several patches ago and/or deosn't include a lot of info or anything.
Does anyone know a good (and current) resource for these?

have a look at Ombeys maps - they show the cosmos sectors with a bit of info - see e.g. the page for Sinq Laison.
Then have a look at the OOG Cosmos guides here eg:

0.0 Cosmos is nice, at least if you want to get into Booster Production. But there are only very few constellations that offer the opportunity for Gas-Harvesting and not all Boosters are really useful.
The Cosmos in Empire is more or less the ruin of a feature CCP abandoned a long time ago, with Algintal as the worst example of Epic Failure.

Wether or not the tools to use are already posted here - which it seems they, and I'll use them, and thanks to those that posted something HELPFUL - I'd still like to know if the "Data Center Agents" are the same thing as COSMOS.

Edited by: Laveaolous on 02/09/2008 16:15:31 In a way they are different. They give Standings increase to faction like COSMOS agents, but they are different in how you do them and the rewards that come from them.
I dont think they give BPC's out, they also ask for Tags (expensive if you dont have them so obviously not that easy to come by, maybe lvl iv mission Enemies Abound?).
I (on another toon) have done the Amarr COSMOS (well 90% of the agents), everything you need to complete COSMOS agents are to hand in side missions or Plexes and the very long level IV story arks last mission . I gave up on the Datacenter agents very quicky becuase of the tags needed so my info on the subject is a bit vague.

At the datacenters you just have to turn in 10 tags of a certain kind to get a faction standing boost. You can only do each mission once.
It's not the same as cosmos but has similarities: agents are in space, missions are not repeatable.

Edited by: Smokin'' Dragon on 04/09/2008 17:45:30 My advice to you all that cant find them is you simply overlooked something obvios (although you may never have found it)
Look for regions of space the seem to contain lots of cluster of deadspace.
when you go to the deadspace, instead of a jump gate you will find agents, floating around in space.
These are the COSMOS agents. I could tell you where they live, but that would spoil you actually having to explore the universe now wouldn't it (to those who think it would be quicker if i did, just hack the client, and set the value 'Gamecomplete = 1' - see, you dont even have to try....)
once you've find one agent, there will be loads all around, and they will ask youto get them all sorts of weird stuff. Rember COSMOS is about exploration, (see above about gamecomplete = 1)
FYI there are 2 official pockets of agents,
happy exploring

S Dragon, so these "Floating" in space agents are Cosmos agents, what about the agents floating in space at the Fort Kumar locations? Are these also cosmos agents?
