i have found plenty of guides on mining etc, and I am looking into making a 2nd character to mine with. I am completely dumb in that field. I am a PvPer! So what I need is a good bloodline, attributes, etc. on creating a miner. Preferably Minmi. Anyone have a good character setup out there?!

well..what kind of mining are you interested in? if your going to train for a barge that'll probably take around 3 months depending your learning skills. and i highly highly suggest you train refining skills too, since if you do that math you would loss alot of ore and iak with out those skills..
read this: http://www.envimon.com/francis/eve/completeminersguide_v2.2.pdf that will get your started its a complete guide to mining. and covers pretty much everything. and shows you the math with and without skills for refining and between mining in a BS or a barge and etc. hope this helps ya out. goodluck ---Asus M2N SLI Deluxe wireles edition.- XFX 8800GT 512MB DDR3 - 6GB G.Skill - AMD 6400+ am2 @3.2 with a zalman cooler--- |

And for those who want it now: (all quoted from Akita T)
Starter skillpack-wise, the FASTEST into mining barges are Minmatar Engineers.
As such, your best bet here would be a Minmatar Sebiestor Tinker, with +3 mem and +2 int. Base attributes would therefore be 13 INT, 9 MEM, 6 WIL, 5 PER and an useless 6 CHA. They start with L4 science (can train Astrogeology right away) and L5 industry, also L4 analytical mind and L2 instant recall plus L1 learning. Actual starter attributes (modified) are 17.34 INT, 11.22 MEM and rest, well, you guess. That means that Cybernetics L1 can be obtained in a matter of minutes, also Logic can be trained right away (first level again only a couple of minutes) for a total of 21.42 INT and 14.28 MEM in a matter of only about one hour since char creation.
Attribute-wise, Caldari Achura Prospector Stargazer (early bias) or Inventor (overspec bias).
Medium term or so (i.e. "most effective" IMHO), your best bet would be the following: Caldari Achura Stargazer, Industry/Prospector training. 8 PER 11 (=8+3) INT 11 (=9+2) MEM 6 WIL and 3 CHA.
You start off with the following (relevant) skills : L4 electronics, L5 mining, L5 refining, L2 industry (not so good), L3 science (enough for cybernetics L1 right off the bat) Also, don't forget L4 instant recall (eidetic memory instantly available), L2 analytical mind and L1 learning.
It does need a bit more training before it gets into a Covetor as a Minmatar Engineer, but the start in learning is a lot better and none of the higher level skills are bad at all. ___
Train L1 Cybernetics, plug in full set of +3s (charisma optional). Train Eidetic Memory right after. After about ONE hour (and a few minutes, L1 eidetic memory done) past char creation, you char attributes will look like this: 19.38 MEM, 16.32 INT, 11.22 PER, 9.18 WIL and 6.12 CHA (or just 3.06)
Train L3 eidetic memory, train L4 analytical mind, L3 Logic and L4 learning, then all other basic skills to L4 and advanced to L3. Should only take about a week and a bit or so (depending on patience, not missing trains, etc). Atributes one week down the road ? 22.68 MEM, 22.68 INT, 19.44 PER, 17.28 WIL and 14.04 CHA (or even only 6.48 or just 3.24, depending what you plugged in and trained).
You can go on and train L4 advanceds and later even L5 basics and even L5 learning, or also go for +4 attribute implants, but it would be pretty overkill... and take an extra month and a half, at least, if not more than two months (too lazy to calc all possible combos including and excluding cha, really). That all for (at best) a 26.2 mem/int, 23.1 per and 20.9 wil (those last two, after you get exhumer L5, WIL is useless, and after you finished the relevant drone skills, per is useless too).

How to get a Hulk Miner in 90 days:
Before we can even talk about training a mining character, realise that almost all mining-related skills - even drones - are governed by Memory and Intelligence, in that order of priority.
So start out by training Instant Recall (boosts Mem) and Analytical Mind (boosts Int) to level 4 BEFORE ANYTHING ELSE. If you were born a miner, your Instant Recall will probably already be at L4. A pair of +3 implants for Mem and Int will come in handy to speed up that training time. Sink 9M isk into the skills Eidetic Memory and Logic, and get each up to L3. If you wanna go crazy and go super-fast in skill training, you can get Instant Recall and Analytical Mind up to L5 each and Eidetic Memory and Logic up to L4 each, which would take a little more than 2 weeks of extra training with +3 implants and the best character setup.
Since Mem/Int governs learning, you can now quickly train your Spatial Awareness (boosts Perception attribute) and Iron Will (boosts Willpower) up to L2 or 3. That will enable you to train your ships quickly. If you were born a miner, your frigate skill is probably at L1 still, and your Perc and Will probably stink. Train up to Frigate 3 and stop. You won't need anything more than that unless you're running missions, in which case you should create a new combat character and forget about mining. Frig 3 will enable you to use Destroyers and Industrials (haulers): all you need for any hi-sec solo mining.
Gallente have the best haulers (they hold the most stuff), so even if you were born Amarr, Caldari, or Minmatar, it is worth training Gallente Frigate to L3 instead of taking your own race's frigs beyond L1. It's only an extra 15-30 minutes of training time, unless you went ahead and trained your frigates above L1. Gallente ships have more skills in common with the Mining Barges than any other race, but Caldari ships have more skills in common with the Exhumers (T2 Mining Barges). Gallente Transports (T2 Industrials) are also superior to the other races' transports. However, Caldari have the best Freighters.
It is very important to note that haulers are not intended as mining ships. If you strap a mining laser to a hauler, don't be surprised if you get griefed or pirated or worse.
After you have your L1 hauler, train Anchoring to L1 and buy a pair of Giant Secure Containers (GSCs). Configure them in station (name/password) and drag one into your hauler. Fly out to a belt and jettison the container >5km from all asteroids and other containers. Then anchor by right-clicking the container and waiting 60 seconds, as will be announced. Bookmark the can. Dock your Industrial and hop into your mining frigate or destroyer. Then fly back to your bookmark, open up your cargo hold and the GSC, and every time u get a little ore, drag into the container. When the container is full, haul it away.
It is easy to train up to the Iteron Mark III, which can hold almost 12k m3 in its hold with 3 T2 cargoholds. Only train Gallente Industrial to L3 when you are satisfied with your ship learning skills. T2 cargoholds only need Hull Upgrades at L2.
At this phase, you will need to focus on some intensive mining-specific skills. Mining and Refining both need to be at L5 (if they aren't already) in order to use most serious mining ships and equipment. Industry will also need to be trained to L5. Science will need to be trained at least to L4, as will Astrogeology. At this point, you should have all the skills to get your first mining barge, a Retriever. I strongly advise skipping the Procurer and training Mining Barge to L3 all at once.
After that, go to a Covetor, which will require Mining Barge and Astrogeology both at L5. After that, go for a Hulk, which requires the Exhumers skill and Spaceship Command L4.
For mining crystals, which only fit in T2 Modulated Strip Miners, train each individual ore refining skill to L3, and train Refinery Efficiency to L2. That also gives you waste-free refining. |

As a character, I recommend a Gallente Intaki Reborn, which comes with all the same features as the Sebestior Tinker and the Achura Stargazer, but insane memory. As I mentioned above, Memory is the most important attribute for miners because it is the primary attribute of Industry skills (i.e. mining), Learning skills, and Drone skills.
The Intaki Reborn can start out with as much as 18/12 Mem/Int or make it more balanced at 17/13 from a base of 11/8. The Sebestior Tinker gets a base of 6/11 and the Achura Stargazer gets a base of 9/8. If you really want a Minmatar miner, go with a Vherokior Retailer, who starts with 11/7.
Going with the Sebestior Tinker or Achura Stargazer does have benefits, though, especially if you want to do more than just mining. Those two character setups focus on Intelligence, which is a secondary attribute in Learning and Industry (mining), but not present in Drones at all. However, it is the primary attribute for Science, Electronics, Engineering, Mechanic, and Navigation, making those characters good at tanking and scientific research. But if you're creating an alt for mining, I doubt you will want to be doing much tanking, hence my suggestions above.
Another important consideration is that a Gallente Intaki Reborn Prospector is born with a Perception/Willpower of 3/6, which means it will take forever to train the ships skills unless you work on some learning skills (Spatial Awareness, Iron Will) for a while first. By contrast, the Sebestior Tinker is born with 5/6, the Achura Stargazer with 7/7, and the Vherokior Retailer with 4/3.
In my above post, I suggested training Gallente Frig 3, Gallente Industrial 3, Spaceship Command 4, Mining Barge 5, and Exhumers 3. Those will take an Intaki about 130 days to train with Perception at L3 (not counting prerequisites). +3 implants, T1 learning skills to L4, T2 skills to L3 will boost Perc/Will attributes by +10 apiece, and will cut down that training time to about 37 days. Since miners don't need Perception and Willpower for training lots of different ships and to shoot lots of guns and missiles, I strongly advise this route.
