It reads the missile skill descriptions or it gets the hose again.
CONCORD provide consequences, not safety; only you can do that. |

the skills for missile speed and flight time (but really skill forum ------->that way) you wont get far past 20km tho without t2 jav torps

Seems im the only one who isnt an Elitist jackass, so here goes
- Missile Bombardment - Missile Projection
aswell as some rigs, you can look for them :)

The skills have been mentioned. As for range, once you have those skills, plus Rigs, plus Implants (which wasn't mentioned) you can reach great ranges. I currently hit with T1 Torps at 40km and 60km with Javelins, and this is with only the +3 implants, get the +5 implants and it gets a little better. Plan for tomorrow, Strive for Today, can't let anxiety get in our way, so play play play! |

with the 2 skills at 5, and 3 rigs, you can reach 48km with t1

the "maximum" range you can reach with specific missiles is never actually that accurate..
lets go with torps.. i can thoeretically hit out to 71km with Javelins (2 missile velocity rigs + 1 flight time rig) and 10m in missiles.
however.. the actual distance these torps will hit out to is much more along the lines of 62km. there seems to be a 10% +/- on missile flight range, and sometimes it can be even worse than that. ive had my javelins fail to hit a target sat still at 58km away consistently (not one hit in over 2 minutes) but when moved away 1km to 59km away the torps suddenly start hitting again.. which is odd.
testing for this was done with a friend sat at different distances away, both of us not moving, so do factor that in when your theorycrafting your range.
tl/dr Range is -/+ 10% of that the calculation would show, and even then.. sometimes they just wont hit.

is that tested ot just speed+flight-time? as in reality it takes missiles a little while to speed up so they wont get as far as calculated outcome Proudly annoying FC's since 2007

From reading this bit of your post it seems like you are forgetting one of the more basic mechanics of missiles. The most likely reason they were not hitting when you were 58k away would be that they are orbiting you or you were approaching them. If they are orbiting you it is important to factor how long it takes your torp to go from you to them then add their speed traveled during this time to the distance they are away from you. Same applies if you are chasing them.
When you "moved away 1k," they were moving toward you. Cutting down on overall flight time of torps.

Can you read? he said he and his friend SAT STILL, as in NOT moving while testing.

Yeah. I would call that a fail test involving their lack of calculating how long it takes for for the torpedoes to get up to full speed. Was going to leave it alone, but you have to attack someone.

no you FAIL
if you read it..
t wouldnt hit at 58km. BUT HIT at 59km WHICH IS FURTHER.. which is why i think there is no steadfast calculation you can do to determine Range.. as there seems to be more at work.

is eve that complex to factor in acceleration? because really if there is acceleration then the way a ship moves through space in the game should change from just a ship speed (which doesnt make much sense in space) to relative velocities.

I have noticed instances in pvp where my missiles would hit at 18km, but suddenly stop hitting at 16-17km, when I would be approaching a non-moving target the entire time.
I've also has ratting-related instances where a rat that was approaching me would begin hitting me at 100km~ (BC gurista), stop hitting for about 5km, and then begin hitting again at 90km or so. This was with me sitting still, and the BC rat slowly approaching me.
It really annoyed me the first instance, 2 more volleys of my expensive faction HAM ammo to kill that guy
