I've never armor tanked a ship before, so I figured it would be a good idea to see what skills I need. Obviously Repair Systems, and my Cap Skills are already very good due to shield tanking previously. Other than that though I'm clueless. Anyone want to toss some pointers out please? :)

Hull upgrades to install armor hardeners and damage controls, repair systems ops -- if you already have the cap skills, those two should be about all you need. Inveniam viam aut faciam |

yeppers
Hull Upgrades V for T2 hardeners
Mechanic V for T2 Reppers (Large anyway)
the armor compensations skills
EM Armor Compensation ; Thermal Armor Compensation ; Kinetic Armor Compensation ; Explosive Armor Compensation all to at least lvl 3 or 4, they are located under the "mechanic" branch of skills

the armor compensation skills are most effective when you have to fit passive hardeners really, they give like an additional 3% bonus per lvl i THINK, 2 or 3%, but thats still alot, at lvl 4 (if a 3% bonus) thats 12% extra resistance amount, which can make a difference
i reccomend you train EM last though, since armor has a good resist to EM anyway, so, Explosive first, thermal kinetic THEN EM
thats how i did it anyway

Edited by: soldieroffortune 258 on 31/08/2008 00:28:13 well, they DO affect active hardeners, but its kinda complicated
the skill description is very confusing it took me three days to try to figure it out so i just said to hell with it ill train it to lvl 1 and see how it affects my resistances
they do affect active hardeners, they give like a 2 or 3% INCREASE to active hardeners . . . . but only when they are not activated, lol
(IE: Active hardeners give like a 1% increase in their respective resistance field while NOT active, but once you activate them that 1% is increased to 55%, and once they are deactivated they go back down to 1% icnrease, these armor compensation skills give approx a 2% bonus to active hardeners while not activated, but give NO bonuses when the active hardener is activated
which is why i said they are most effective when you have passive hardeners equipped, they give a 3% bonus to passive hardeners resistance amount per lvl
TL;DR: it was a waste of programmer labor to give those skills "bonuses" to active hardeners
EDIT: and sorry if this post confuses you, lol

It doesn't confuse me. They function the same as the shield versions; heh.
