I was trying to fugure out a setup for a PvP thorax today, and this is what I came up with:
Highs: 150mm Railgun II 150mm Railgun II 150mm Railgun II 150mm Railgun II 150mm Railgun II Meds: 10MN Microwarpdrive I Cap Recharger I Warp Scrambler I Lows: Overdrive Injector System II Overdrive Injector System II Overdrive Injector System II Gauss Field Balancer I Gauss Field Balancer I
With this setup I can get 1.8km/sec, 130 DPS, and remain cap stable for about a minute. I was wondering how this will fare in single PvP.
Revisions welcome.

I'll be honest, it's not pretty. You look like you're trying to mix a sniper fit and a blaster fit with a nano fit. In other words, you're trying to do too much at once.
Although you can fly the Thorax as a rail boat or a nano boat, it really shines as an 'in-your-face-so-I-can-melt-it' blaster boat. I use the following fit solo in loSec belts and have had much success with it:
[Thorax, Ion Thorax] Damage Control II Tracking Enhancer II Magnetic Field Stabilizer II Magnetic Field Stabilizer II Magnetic Field Stabilizer II
10MN MicroWarpdrive II Warp Scrambler II Stasis Webifier II
Heavy Ion Blaster II, Null M Heavy Ion Blaster II, Null M Heavy Ion Blaster II, Null M Heavy Ion Blaster II, Null M Heavy Ion Blaster II, Null M
[empty rig slot] [empty rig slot] [empty rig slot]
Hammerhead II x3 Vespa EC-600 x2
You have some buffer with the DCU II, but your main tank is your guns. Get in, kill your target, get out. You will need to choose your fights carefully. If you have AWU V and Hybrid Rigging IV, you can throw on three cheap hybrid falloff rigs (about 2.5mil a pop) and easily do very nice damage all the way out to web range.
If you want a gankier fit, drop the Tracking Enhancer for an RCU II and upgrade the Ion IIs for Neutron IIs. Make sure to use Faction AM since your base tracking will be a lot lower so the penalty on Null will become more pronounced.

my basic low sec fit.
high 5x electron II faction AM/null/void(void only for bigger ships if you are in trouble :D)
mids: fleeting web 24km scarm y8 MWD
lows. 1600 RT plate RCU. (not sure if it was needed fly deimos most of the time now) DCU. 2-3 mag stabs II
5x vespa 600.
does the job well the plate gives you a buffer and the drones more tank and with some a luck a "O f*ck i need to get the hell outa here"
in gang use hamerheads II. |

For those with moderate sp: dcu2, 800 RT, mfs2 x3 mwd, point, web medium ion2 x3, medium electron2 x2 [CN AM] collision accelerator
For taking on 'other' things : dcu2, 1600 RT, mfs2 x2, rcu mwd, point, web dual 150mm rails x5 [CN AM, CN PL] collision accelerator or locus rig
Drones are either Valk2s, HH2s, or VespaEC300s. Really depends on what you're going to be shooting at. |

5x neutron 1x mwd 1x 20km point 1x web 3x MFS 1x dmg control 1x reactor control
Fits with all T1, fits if it's all T2. Don't tank the thorax, dont nano it. For under 10mil, you can do alot of dmg. It's a throwaway ship. |

Edited by: Spectre3353 on 01/09/2008 19:45:42 If you really want to nano a Gallente cruiser, I would suggest trying it with the Vexor. It is a little bit better suited thank to it's damage mainly coming from drones as opposed to guns. As far as the Thorax goes, the two fits I usually see are oriented towards tank and gank and both are very effective:
Tank:
Lows: 1x 1600mm Tungsten Plate 2x EANM (or a hardener or two if you know what you're going to be up against) 1x Damage Control 1x Medium Armor Repairer
Mids: 1x 10MN MWD 1x Web 1x Scram
Highs: 5x Light Neutron Blaster w/ Antimatter
Drones: 5x Hammerhead
Gank:
Lows: 3x Magnetic Field Stabilizer 1x 800mm Tungsten Plate 1x Damage Control
Mids: 1x 10MN MWD 1x Web 1x Scram
Highs: 5x Medium Electron Blasters
Drones: 5x Vespa EC-600
EDIT: ...and here is a nano-Vexor fit I use occasionally if you want to try it:
2x Nanofiber 2x Overdrive
1x 10MN MWD 1x Warp Disruptor 1x Medium Cap Booster
4x 150mm Railgun 1x Medium Neut
6x Warrior 7x Hammerhead |

Go Blasters, small Guns are fail if you want to use the real advantage of the Thorax. |

Thorax without Plate is fail, anybody that realy uses the ship will tell you this(I personaly use the Deimos without Plate but Thorax would die to quick without one)...

If I had a million ISK for every time I have seen someone post the "best" PvP Rax setup, I could buy... like two Thoraxes.
No exaggeration!
(Meaning: OP, I suggest you just pick the setup that best fits your style, skill points, and budget. All the setups have probably worked for someone. ) |

That was back in the old days when you could fit 150 tech II's on a thorax. Rails dont have the tracking needed for that kind of speed. Use blasters or 250's. Stick with 250's or medium blasters.
