Normally one uses drones for frigates and cruisers and battlecruisers are easily dispatched with an almost equal number of torpedo volleys between a golem with a tp and a cnr with a tp - also all (if not 90% of) NPC battleships have a sig radius bigger than javelin torpedoes' explosion radius. But you're right actually, taking the tractor and salvaging into account torp golem does pull in more isk/hr. I was thinking more of a "which gets more isk from bounties per hour" mentality with the cnr.
Nice advantage of the CNR is that it's dropped in price a lot lately and the skills required to fly it are equal to the raven.

I fly the Vargur Minmatar with my main who has pretty much only trained minnie and it does well enough with 3 gyro's/dps implants and a faction shield tank.
HOWEVER...
I've also flown an Alt in the Amarr Paladin and surprise of all surprises with just one damage mod in low slot and the rest mid/lows for tank this ship rocks with damage, cargo space, and ease of use.
If I were going to train my main from scratch into a Marauder I would go for the Paladin.
The alt account is inactive right now but I think this setup is what I finally sorted for the Paladin.
2X Large Armor Repairer II 3X Armor Hardener II (specific to mission requirements) 1X Capacitor Power Relay II 1X Heat Sink II
4X Cap Recharger II
4X Mega Modulated Energy Beam I, Red Amarr Navy Crystals for long and blue(?) short range 2X Small Tractor Beam I 1X Salvager I
2X Capacitor Control Circuit I
EFT reports defense 622 and DPS at 504
The tank is perpetual with a lot of reserve cap left over

Kurull, when you fly amarr again get some more crystals. you need multi freq (white) for the most damage, then a set of crystals that give you good coverage of all the ranges out to your max range. with the 2 second swap time the lasers have a nice advantage of being able to quickly alter their optimal range for any situation. something well worth taking advantage of Because sometimes you just have to go back to your roots: [2005.02.20 01:08:03] (combat) Your Civilian Light Electron Blaster perfectly strikes Serpentis Smuggler, wrecking for 20.3 damage |
