I'm not asking for software. I already use EVE DashBoard which I'm very happy with.Saves me a lot of logging-in-just-to-check.
What I want is a method to keep manually track of my progress towards specific skill goals, such as being able to fly an Interdictor destroyer, or a Marauder/Golem, or whatever, using paper and a pen.
The big problem here is that while a specific skill is training, I don't get to see the completion percentage, only the remaining time. If I could see the percentage remaining, without having to stop training the skill, then I could have 4 or 5 boxes on my sheet of paper, for each skill, and every time I had passed another 25% or 20% mark, I would X out one box. That way I'll be able to see my progress.
But I can't.
Is there some solution I've overlooked? Keeping in mind that what I want to be able to use is a table created in MS Word and then printed out (on paper, i.e. in hardcopy) so that I can interact with it with a pen.
Have I overlooked something?

Hello Salpad,
Many players use EVEMon which is a progam designed to plan skill training towards ship classes and modules.
EVEMon will show the percentage of any skill completed even if you swap skill training it will show the percentage completed.
Hope that helps |

It has a very useful reports function that creates both Html and Text.

Manually is Pen/Paper only way you can... Before i started using Evemon I just looked at what item/ship/skill i wanted and wrote down all the pre reqs for it and put it in notepad and followed that.
Evemon is probably the best thing to have tbh... It will even give hints on what you can do to lower the skills training time..

As I understand the Original Poster, if you could see the completion percentage, you can solve the problem yourself.
If all you have is the time, you could infer the percentage in the following way.
Scenario: You are training a rank 1 skill to level 3 and have 1.8 hours remaining. You want to calculate the percent remaining with your 'knowns'.
Attributes: 1) your primary attribute is 20 2) your secondary attribute is 20 3) your learning is level 1
With that, you know you are training at 30.6 points per minute or 1836 points per hour based on the Skill Training Reference from the Knowledgebase.
Points per minute = (primary attribute + secondary attribute/2) x (1 + 0.02 x Learning skill level)
A rank 1 level 3 skill has a total of 8000 skill points from that same link.
Then it takes a total of 3.59 hours to train that skill in total.
Therefore, 1.8 hours remaining divided by 3.59 hours total to train that skill is 50% remaining. |

Yes, that's what I need.

you need this ... Eve Master datasheet
however be aware that it has not been updated since December 2007 and some of the ship stats are way off but the skill section is mostly correct and I find indespensible. Use's API.

Yes, that's what I need.
More specifically, what I need is an automated method, a software solution, that shows me the progress percentage for the currently training skill (in-game or out of game - doesn't matte rwhich one).
In-game, I can always see the progress percentage for all partially trained skillz, except the one currently training. That's what bothers me.
Being able to see the progress percentage, for the currently training skill, would be a nice addition to the various out-of-game API-using applications such as EVE Dashboard, and I have in fact EVEmailed the guy who made the Dashboard, and suggested this. Sadly, I got no reply. Probably he is no longer developping it.
Another method did occur to me, though. I'll explain it in a separate post. -- Salpad |

Hmm If you go for percentage you could just see "ok the skills needs XdXhXmXs to complete...now I divide the time by 20 and got the 5% marks in timeframes

Yes, but that means I have to perform a calculation, using my TI pocket calculator, and I want to avoid that.
I do have a sort of solution, however, which I said I'd post about yesterday, but I never got around to doing so.

I'm not quite sure if this is what you're looking for exactly, but EveHQ's training queues show you the progress of the current skill in training. An example image can be seen here. If it's not quite right and you need some additional numbers, shoot me an eve-mail and I'll see if I can help you.

Looks like severe overkill, but I'll take a look at Eve HQ.
I'm opposed to heavy do-lots-of-stuff applications, such as EVEMon, preferring lightweight very purpose-specific apps like Dashboard, but it is possible that Eve HQ can charm me...
