Agility isn't a boost?
Hey, now you've got the best handling ships in the game (or matched with Minmatar, depending on ship class). Worst thing is, people still stupidly say they're "bricks", even though a, say, Drake handles every bit just as well as a unplated Hurricane (it's slower, but not by a huge margin either).
Anyway, you got the torp boost, as well, making torps from a so-so weapon system to a face-melting weapon system. I don't recall the time anyone else was given a flat out 33% DPS boost. That alone made your BS very good altogether.
That doesn't even discuss the nerfs to other races which made you better in comparison.
well yeah but im nto really a fan of using bs's for pvp unless its sniping or lowsec...And i dont lowsec that much..

Personally I want to see AC get a boost and for blasters to get a boost. Talking as somebody with nearly maxed skills in gallente and caldari.
TBH I can smell a dirty torp nerf on the horision, I think they are gonna get slower with the coming patch but I really hope they don't lol.
I want to see blasters on par with lasers again. Its not fair that blasters need to use their long range ammo to function in combat when all other races can match EFT stats for blasters and then just switch up to med/long range.

Besides, it's kind of related, there's obviously only one CCP employee who balances stuff, and he's quite bipolar. One minute he's boosting torps by 33%, the next he's nerfing damps by 50%... Can't have gallente be the next boost and minmatar the next nerf.

Omg, no ;P
That'd make it way overpowered. Hint, the Myrmidon can gank with the best of them (in fact, better then the best of them) if you abandon the silly armour rep bonus for something altogether more useful. It's fine.
If anything, Gallente players don't know how to fit a Myrmidon at all.

Yeah, Caldari bastards have the right approach
Unfortunately, three magstabs for the Myrm unless you want to use a PG implant (or lose some buffer). Unlike the Dominix, the Myrmidon has a same or better buffer tank as armour tanked gank BCs do, however.

Edited by: Bish Ounen on 04/09/2008 17:09:08 Hi,
I'm a Lachesis.
Once upon a time I was feared and respected all through Eve. I was an integral part of any fleet, and I could damp down anyone's ability to target me. Although I had to get closer than the Rook, It was Ok, since even one T2 Damp could slam my opponent's ability to target me to nearly nothing. I was as effective as a Rook, and always loved and needed in any Fleet battle.
Then came the Damp Nerf, and scripts.
Now, when ECM was previously nerfed, my distant cousin, the Rook, was granted extra bonuses to compensate and to solidify it's role as an E-War ship. It has filled that role admirably. However, for some reason, when damps were nerfed, I was left with a pitiful 5% strength bonus and NO range bonus. So now I still have to get dangerously close, but I can't damp down more than a single opponent at any one time. This means me and my Lachesis brothers are dying at an alarming rate, and are becoming increasingly rare on the battlefield as we are no longer welcome in fleet fights.
These days we are forced to slum with can-flipping pirates just to make ends meet, and frankly, even the pirates aren't all that fond of us.
Please CCP, Boost Gallente. Give us a solid 10% strength boost and a 20% range boost per level, much like our Rook cousins get. Give the Lachesis a chance to shine again.
Thank You. Tactical Logistics using the last T1 Frigate hull!

damps don't need a range bonus at all ever, as it completely defeats the scram bonus, just get a 7.5% or 10% bonus to strength and they are fine.

Keeping damps as effective as they are now but increasing their range on all ships and giving them 250km optimal on damp ships would be the best change for EVE online in a while.

Great, halving lock range from 250km away, not overpowered at all. Isn't that like a Falcon(actually even more range) that never misses a jam cycle? _____________ I don't care what is nerfed, as long as it's not my "undock" button. |

While I'm not saying it's a good idea, the Arazu would also not have any effect at all on a close range fight (<40km or so).

No, because the range bonus would defeat the scram bonus, its not that hard to understand. Its not supposed to be just like the falcon. They are different, and thats the way it supposed to be.

You're an idiot to put it simply...
Different, yes...
Balanced, no.
Currently: The curse, huginn and rapier speed tank damage.
The rook and falcon avoid damage by jamming everything and sitting outside any ship you would meet in a gang's range.
The pilgrim tanks its targets, by buffer or active (of all the recons this is the one I would call balanced).
The arazu and lachesis... Die? I mean it sounds hyperbole but at most they can damp 1 ship and they are very likely to still be in locking range of something...
They're not useful in fleets particularly because of the short range on damps, they can warp scram stuff but that doesn't help them stay alive, quite the opposite in fact.
They simply have no way to survive in a fight other than the fact they're so shit people will leave them till last, which they probably wont since they will know you are paper thin and an easy kill.
After the nano nerf we will see the rapier and huginn going through some similar rethinks. I personally can't see how they will survive easily in a fight other than kiting. So I think they will be in a similar situation to the gallente ones then but thats not an issue in this thread.
The curse will go back to its old fittings, the pilgrim will become borderline OP but nothing compared to nano today and the gallente and caldari ones will stay at their current levels of useless and overpowered respectivly.

Wow, that really does suck... who ever heard of a ship that's only good against a single target? How could CCP be that lame?
Oh wait, the Arazu is a Gallente ship and therefore supposed to only be good in solo/very small gang scenarios.

See above about recons and tanking. The job of the Rapier is to web/paint the other guy so that every ship in your fleet hits for full damage, a job it will do just fine post-nano-nerf.
Quote: The curse will go back to its old fittings, the pilgrim will become borderline OP but nothing compared to nano today and the gallente and caldari ones will stay at their current levels of useless and overpowered respectivly.
Lol at the idea of the Pilgrim being overpowered, that's all there really is to say on that issue. The Pilgrim will continue to be exactly what it is now: an awesome covert ops hauler and a worthless combat ship.
As for the Arazu, its only problem is the nerfed damps do not work effectively enough at keeping the target's lock range below the Arazu's scramble range. Give it an increase to the damp strength bonus, and the ship is fixed. If you don't like that it's not as good as the Falcon at being a long-range fleet ewar ship, it's your fault for training the close-range solo race.
Suggesting 250km damp range is just painfully stupid, and ignores the intended purpose of both Gallente ships in general and the Arazu specifically.

When did i ever say it was balanced? i'm saying that the arazu needs a boost so that it is comparable/on par but you're doing it the wrong way. It needs strength not range.

You fail at reading. Yes the arazu needs to be boosted for one, the warfare link for damps needs to be boosted back up from 1.2% too.
Now in my post I said that the range bonus would give the arazu/lachesis A use in eve, if you read the rest of this thread you would have seen me say I don't care how its boosted, I just want it to have some use in eve, since as it stands they are utterly useless which nobody seems to deny.
If a ship has no ablity to stay alive and still costs as much as a hac what use is it? It will die fast and its bonuses to hurting everything or reducing damage taken will have been for nothing but another killmal of the enemies.
While the role of recons is to screw the other guy, if these ships can't survive somehow they are useless...
And merin stop flaming everything I write, you seem to stupid to keep up.
