Shooting them and making them understand how dangerous it is is one thing, this is jsut abit too extreme lol.
Learning to shoot a gun includes how to take care of said weapon so it functions properly. That also includes cleaning and replacing parts when they malfunction. This girl just happens to want to do it as fast as possible which is a sign of proficiency.
Would you not teach your kids how to change a flat tire on a car if you taught them how to drive it?
Slade
Comeone man chaning a tire and taking apart an assault rifle, two diffrent things lol.
You fail to see the problem with your original statement. You said teaching them how to fire it is fine yet you say learning to take care of it is wrong. Yes my comparison was simple, but that was my point. Please reread your original statement then take mine into consideration.

First let me say, that young woman is amazing for an 11 year old. I don't even know her and I'm proud of her.

Well we think not. It takes many to make the world go round.
Teach them young and you teach them responsibility. Typically the people shooting others in the States have not taken a gun safety or hunting safety course. This girl probably has.
Slade
Does the fact that I owned guns from the time I was 8 years old bother you? (probably would have starved if it wasn't for rifles growing up, so if it does bother you... go stick it in your @$$)
Granted I can't field strip an AR like that young woman, but safety and maintenance of firearms has always been a priority in my life, as it should be in every persons life (starting at a young age is usually best as well).
I think the words of Charlton Hesston need to be remembered, they may ring with a bit of familiarity and "cliche-ness" but that doesn't detract from their honesty: "Guns don't kill people, people do."

You find a young girl taught the proper use, safety, and field strip techniques of firearms to be "disturbing"? Seems to me that learning how to properly use and respect firearms is preferable to quaking in the corner with fear about them.
This girl is obviously smart, focused, and dedicated to learn such a difficult skill at so young an age. I suspect that she will grow up to be a strong, independent and powerful woman someday. I have nothing but respect for a young person like this.

Be responsible, gain the knowledge and the means to protect yourself, and use it fairly. Because no amount of peaceful protests will stop the aggressive actions of those who don't care about you or your opinion.
Man, EvE is a perfect example of this, and I wonder how people are still so naive. You can attack someone anywhere in EvE, and there will ALWAYS be people who will prey on those who are too foolish or too naive to protect themselves. You are their intended target, BECAUSE your so nice and friendly!
Cops can't stop it, laws can't stop it, nothing can stop it ... accept you.
Countries where gun laws remove the average citizens right to own firearms (or knives and whatnot, as some do), don't have lower crime rates. They'll quote you lower rates on shootings, etc, but even these still happen.
But you better believe the crime and personal attacks still happen. And check the trend yourself.
It only gets worse!
Those who advocate gun control in the States are following a twisted sort of logic. Sure, let's ban guns. And to keep that mentality in mind, lets disarm and ban the military's as well. How long would America last on the world seen then? Hell, even Canada might invade at that point
Gun laws allow citizens to protect themselves from other citizens who wish to do them harm, and from a government that is willing to pander on the rights of it's citizens in order to guarantee the safety of the government. |

How is peace achieved, then?
Every peaceful civilization I've ever heard of has been brutally victimized by others.
While the individual human being may change his nature and act peacefully, to expect every other person and every other civilization to do so is pure foolishness.

It's sad how naive you are.
Obviously, I have no idea how old you are, and I won't make any suppositions, but your opinion is much like ones I hear from HS and college kids who's heads have been filled with far leftist tripe.
Perhaps a simple analogy will help you understand:
Imagine you are a normal Grade School kid. In your class you have a bully. How do you deal with him?
You have two basic choices: Appeasement, and Opposition. (There is NO middle ground when dealing with a Bully.)
Many kids choose to appease the Bully. "He's not really a bad guy, just misunderstood. If I'm just nice to him, he'll be nice to me." they figure. They are wrong. Indeed, the kids that capitulate the fastest get beat up again the quickest. They have marked themselves as weak, easy targets, and the Bully will relish attacking them again.
You however, choose Opposition. To stand up to the Bully. You are a bit smaller, and a bit weaker than him, but you have a go at it anyway. The bully, so shocked that someone actually stood up to him, backs off initially, but soon comes back even harder. Again, you have a choice. Capitulate, and encourage his attacks, or hit the gym after school and work out. Bulk up. Take a Martial Arts class and learn to deal with threats larger than you. In other words, Get Stronger.
The next time the Bully goes after you, you are ready for him. You beat him senseless and crying. The Bully stops coming after you. He knows you are a Hard Target, and leaves you alone. Soon, you will find that other small kids are running to you for protection. Initially this causes a few fights, as the bully may not have completely gotten the message. But eventually, the bully begins to leave ALL the kids alone, because he knows that you are there, and that he can't beat you. From then on school is a better place and everyone, even the bully, does better.
This is much the way that international politics works. It's the schoolyard on a global scale. Unfortunately, there is no teacher to come stop the fights.
This is why the concept of "Peace Through Strength" works. If you are strong enough, and tough enough, the bullies of the world leave you alone. They are essentially cowards who only want soft targets. If you make yourself a Hard Target, they won't want to take the beating they are likely to endure from you, and will back down quickly. This allows all the smaller, weaker nations who are your allies to prosper, free from the threat that the Bully nation want to impose.
I hope that helped explain how it works. It's a simple concept, but often times the simplest concepts are the ones most effective at dealing with complex problems. Tactical Logistics using the last T1 Frigate hull!

She was not being filmed by friends, but in a controlled situation by her father. There was no ammo present. She was not riding her bike to the gun range with it straddled across the handle bars. I also highly doubt she has access to the gun unless her father is around I fail to see how this video raises questions about a child's responsibility levels.

The bully wouldn't leave you alone because of the fact that you'd be strong, but because of the fact, that you'd not hestitate to use that strenght to hurt him. He'd be afraid of you and therefor leave you alone.... Here we are, back at the concept of peace through fear...
If you we're strong, but people'd be sure that you wouldn't use your force against them, then they'd still harrass you.

Yes, I can see the bit where the legislation said that they were banned because of barrel shrouds, and why they didn't want civilians to have whatever that impressive piece of kit was because of the heat seeking ( ) bullets. Those are totally not valid arguments with incorrect ancillary elements.

Whats to stop me driving up on the sidewalk and totalling as many people as i can before the shards of shattered bone and bloody sinew either clog or puncture my radiator?
A gun is designed to fire a projectile. It is not specifically used to fire at people, it just happens to be incredibly effective.
Much like a car. Its designed to carry people, but can also be used to splatter them across the blacktop.
The fact guns can kill people is obvious, but people act as if they're the only thing that can kill people. I can take a No.2 pencil and jam it in everyones eye socket I meet on the street, wiggle it about and eventually they will die. I can keep doing this until my pencil breaks or I am eventually apprehended.
Ban the pencils?
People start using bricks as a primary weapon so we ban bricks? Houses end up being made out of foam bricks because everyone would have a huge supply of lethal bricks in their own homes!

No, there is a huge difference between disarming the average citizen and the military. The military is the nation's defence force and needs to be armed to deter and combat others. The private citizen does not need to kill other people. Giving them guns encourages armed robbery, intimidation, muggings and so on. That is not to say they don't happen everywhere else, but without guns in the mix there are a lot less of them, and a lot less deaths when they do.
The people benefitting from your right to bear arms are the arms manufacturers. They're more than happy to buy off politicians to ensure they can continue to puts guns into the hands of every private citizen to make money. -------------

Guess what? It is easier to "maintian" control of the people, that live on an island. It is easier to maintain the status quo in a country with population less then New York City.
New York City - 8 million
EurAsia - Many countries below 8 million population and only a few trumping New York by only 3-5 times
The USA is a very dynamic country, about as dynamic as one can country can get. There is a potential for any country to implode. And, I for sure, want the ability to protect my family and my homestead if the worst should ever happen. If someone does not want that right then go ahead do not have them. But to say that you can not posses them, for the purpose that our countries founding fathers used theme for, is ludicrous.
The next step is to make sure everyone understands them, uses them regulary, and knows how to take care of them.

I would say that a majority of gun owners in the US can agree with MD's statement above. I was taught how to fire certain guns at a young age and by the age of 11 I had earned enough money from cutting grass, collecting aluminum cans after my soccer games, and odd and end jobs for the elderly people in my neighborhood to buy my first rifle.
By the age of 11 not only did I understand the responsibilty of a gun, I also had a firm understanding of their lethality, and new how to strip all my fathers and grandfathers guns and put them through a solid cleaning. I killed my first deer, illegally, the fall before I turned 11, and had been shooting small game for a year before that. So keep not owning guns and if/when shit hits the fan don't start crying for mercy, because you already had the chance to prepare yourselves.

cars arent specifically designed to cause harm and its just idiot drivers that are responsible for accidents
however guns are designed in mind to hurt humans or animals and teaching a kid at that age to field strip a rifle which is almost certainly not goin to be useful for the next 10 years minimum is just plain wierd
Like I said, I must be doing something wrong because I have fired several thousand rounds from my guns and have yet to harm a human. Now my vehicle on the other hand....
good for you.....
however the fact that anyone with half a brain can get their hands on a gun in america is stupidly scary
oh and the girl in question cant drive legaly till shes 21 or w/e age over there so Eve information kiosk

I would say that a majority of gun owners in the US can agree with MD's statement above. I was taught how to fire certain guns at a young age and by the age of 11 I had earned enough money from cutting grass, collecting aluminum cans after my soccer games, and odd and end jobs for the elderly people in my neighborhood to buy my first rifle.

yes cause 11 year olds with guns is always a good idea...
and when the shit hits the fan the only reason it will be hitting the fan is because everyone in you country could with very little effort kill just about anyone else.... besides the only real shit hitting fan from outside your country would be a foreign army and that means kevlar vests and armoured vechiles
good luck popping off afew rifle rounds into that apc before the driver decideds enough is enough and uses ur head as a ventilating system
