I was out scouting for a new mining place the other day in 0.5 and up . I was trying to find belts that had not been trashed by macro miners and large fleet mining ops. I mainly was looking for roids that i can get at least 2 or more pulls from. that seems to be getting harder to find these days. after going threw a few systems i found a wounder full system with veld the size of moons and good amounts of kernite and such. i was thinking i was in Miner heaven be for i found out i was have entered a 0.4 system.
Now i know there is risk in 0.1 and 0.4. Some people have told me that 0.0 is better with the same risks. but i have been to 0.0 a few times in the past. The good rocks like crock merc and a few others are normally small or mined out. shore the veld and other low ends are massive but,,,,, it is kinda hard to move 20mill of trit thou 30 jumps of 0.0. Also 90% of 0.0 is owned by alliences and or at war with some one. To mine you sometimes have to go 3 4 or even 10 jumps from a station to mine and you have rates that cut hulks in half like butter.....
But lets now take a look at 0.1 - 0.4. theres is alot of systems with belts all most un touched with a good amount of them having stations. There are true piretes! What are true pirets you ask? Piretes that have a -0.5 or less. they don't care abount 0.5 and up. they are the real thing unlike the the gankers and can flipers you get in 0.5 and up. If you see them in local there is a good chance they are in warp to your belt with drool coming off there fangs :((. that adds a bit of cool risk to spice the game up if you ask me.
But really i want to know what others are thinking. Is it worth it or not. what is the pros and cons to you?

Find an asteroid belt at a planet far enough away from ALL gates and stations not to be scanned on maxrange in a quiet system - maybe have a small POS nearby as a relay point [will need 4.0+ Corp standings to local faction for 0.4] ... Anyone comes into local that you don't know - phwoosh! - off to the POS :) With a belt at a distant planet, noone can insta-scan you out on entering system so you have time to GTFO to safety. -------

Lowsec is usually riskier than 0.0, although less political, but the rewards for alot of things are no better or not enough better to make people use it. IMO the reward would need to be at least 2x as much as highsec before alot of people would even consider it.

If you talk to the right folks--we have allied with several corps and alliances to take over some areas of low sec for ratting and mining. Most are welcome---contact me if you are interested---more low sec areas are being opened up--might be the time to get into a group hitting them. :)

There are some people that don't use paragraph breaks at all but you put about 3 lines between each paragraph.
I find that funny for some reason.

0.4 to 0.1 for some strange reason is 50% more dangerous then 0.0. Everytime I go through 0.4 to 0.1 their is a gang of pirates and other folks their. I feel safer in 0.0. I am a miner and the problem that I have is that alts hulks can't stand up against those 0.0 rats. Ohh well.... 0.0 is a safe place depending on where you are....

Think about it....
WHY are the roids in 0.1 - 0.4 so big and untouched? WHY is nobody mining them even when it's sometimes difficult to find good belts in highsec?
Don't you think that if it was really worth it that you would still find such juicy roids in lowsec?

Well, it's not that bad.
Align to station. Pay attention to local. Warp.

Ombey's 2D Maps. Look for dead-end systems 3-4 jumps from trade hubs and routes. You may find a solo miner's haven that macros don't know about yet.
Or take your mining road show to Amarr space, thinly populated compared to other races.
Roid belts regenerate usually Tues-Thur. Keep an eye on them and you might get to them before others.
