Critique on my Bantam miner fit

Borun Tal	Posted - 2008.09.03 01:18:00 - [1] Hi, all! I didn't see any Bantam Miner fits in the ship fit thread, so I thought I'd post my first Bantam miner setup. First the setup, then my requests for fit changes to support either defense or skirmish weps. High slots: 2x Miner 1 Med slots: Survey scanner Civilian shield booster Lot slots: Co-processor I Basic expansion cargohold I've trained to Mining IV and Refining IV (amongst others), and like the ISK I'm getting with Skordite & Veldspar refining. My only problem at this point is that I can't leave hi-sec without (probably) getting introduced to my next clone. ;) What's the opinions on my fit so far, and what are suggestions for getting myself some defenses to survive in (let's say) .5 space? Thanks!

Thanks! Simple. Train for an Osprey. Shouldn't take more than a day or two. Then you can use Miner IIs and also mount a light missile bay to deal with the NPC rats in 0.5 BTW, 0.5 is STILL hi-sec, so player pirates should not be a problem. Train for a medium shield booster, and cargo expanders in the lows, for extra isk/trip. They are not the same as player pirates, which can, and will, eat you for breakfast. Stay in 0.5 and above space, thats highsec. It doesnt mean you're truly safe from a possible "suicide" attack. Unlikely, but it happens. Dont know how the new patch that boosts CONCORD will affect "suicide attacks". -

And let's not forget the mining bonus allows an osprey to outmine most any ship until the barges. I spent a lot of time in an osprey mining my first BC (a ferrox). The Ferrox exploded in short order.

Imho you understood perfectly how to fit a ship and did the best doable with your skills/money. I agree also with those that are sains to move asap into bigger ships. Osprey its the best mining cruiser ( 3 mining laser and +80% mining ammount with cruiser lev 4 ), its an excellent choise until you will move into barges ( "THE" real mining ships) if your idea is to become a serious miner.
