seriously? I have put almost a month into learning t2 tachyons only to realize that tachyon modulated energy beams are just as good, and use less powergrid than t2 tachyons do.
I thought the whole point of a t2 version of a weapon is that it was better. Its not better at all.
What the hell is the point of learning advanced laser beams if thats the case? for the extra 2% damage per learning point? Or is it to use scorch and flageration crystals.
Someone please enlighten me

1) Large Beam Turret Specialization skill. Read it.
2) T2 ammo.

Well T2 tachyons have twice the Heat dissipation modifier, so I assume that means they make better heatsinks than their T1 versions.

*runs in to scream something about tachs not using scorch/conflag, but instead aurora/gleam*
It comes down to the situation... yes harder to use/fit, but they can reach better range with the T2 crystal, though it's a bit less of a concern now due to the Apoc change from what I've seen, still it can improve range further.
It also gets an extra bit of damage, that's about it, you said it yourself... :/ more fitting, but better damage/t2 crystals.
On the plus side, you should be able to train for capital energy turrets now if you so desire.

Because, uh....man this is a tough one. I mean I can't see any reason to use anything other than megapulse with scorch. I guess for capital beams? But seriously, more people should have some type of spacer in their sigs to show it's not part of the post.

This mean +8% damage at spec skill lev 4 Not bad at all, imho.
If you think is not worth, then think why people train long term skills at lev 5 just to get another +5% somewhere ( for example BS 5 ). or how much isks people spend just to get high end hardwiring implants.
+8% damage ( if not +10% ) its well worth imho.

Because the extra 8-10% damage from the spec skill is great. Because Aurora L rocks your world. Because there is more to EvE then PvE?
If you find yourself in a fair fight, something went wrong

I think you are a little too young for tachyons then. . .stick with heavy beams for a bit on your Harbi. ----

The advantages are obviosuly that they do more damage and can use T2 crystals.
However I'd never touch them (or any T2 gun/launcher tbh) since the fitting reqs are almost always too high for my tight squeezy fits. The cons > the pros. --- RBJ |

Apart from the obvious OP-fail regarding Aurora and reading Skill-Descriptions, a single best named Tach is around 6mill ISK. They we're at >10Mill not too long ago....

fail
If not for the +2% dmg/lvl, then at least for scorch/barrage/null ammo. I wouldn't wanna fly a sader without scorch or a vaga without barrage. As I also run the occasional mission, I can safely say that a MPLII/scorch Abaddon really is a lot of fun. Or try a torp CNR with Javelins.
Try any T2 weapon and you never wanna run missions or PvP in a T1 armed ship again!

ok maybe not but using tachs and aurora on an apoc is a mean MEAN sniper and you get that fuzzy feeling of 'all t2' on your bs.

They're obviously not as high DPS as Tachyons but they're still not bad and fit a lot easier on most ships. On a Apocalypse the DPS difference is only 40 DPS with 2x HSII and 45 DPS with 3x HSII at Spec.5 with only a minimal difference in range. But quite a massive difference in fitting required. (a single PDS for the megabeams, a RCUII and a PDS for the Tachyons, more if you also want to drop reps on there)

i agree, the energy spec skill shuld give 5% boost.
its ok that other races gets only 2% since laz0rs are hideosly underpowered, espesialy on amarr ships.
So change the laser spac from 2% > 5% please!!!!!!! Sig removed, inappropriate content. If you would like further details please mail [email protected] ~Saint |

Tachs have higher alph, mega beams have higher dps since you need a fitting more for tachs where a mega beam will fit a heatsink. ***The EVE servers and their patches*** |

I dont get how the OP doesnt realise this.. You keep fitting ur "better" modded tachs and see if ur wallet sees if there is "no difference" Proudly annoying FC's since 2007

First of all, BEam's do not use Scorch, second of all, ''flageration'' crystals aren't even a real crystal Beams use Aurora and Gleam. --------------------

T2 tachyons are fun because sometimes noobs in pods like to sit 220 km off a group of hostile ships thinking they are safe. Apoc + Aurora = very fun range. :)

Tachs are great guns for reasons mentioned above. T2 crystals and great ranged DPS.
