I got my contacts (hard, oxygen-permeable) last monday. After googling around a bit and not finding much useful information I thought I'd fire up my question here.
I can see perfectly with them while looking just in front of me, far better than with my glasses even though my eyes have remained stable for the last few years. However when I look around or blink things go a bit blurry and it seems like I can see the edges of the lens and the tears underneat it. This is pretty annoying when watching a computer screen, because it is like someone applied a bloom effect to real life .
I've asked several people in real life I know that wear contacts about their experience, but they all have been wearing them for so long they can't really recall having the same problems.
I am aware this type of lenses takes one or more weeks to get used to, but I am wondering if people with the same kind of lenses have similar experiences and perhaps solutions? If not I will ask the doctor next monday during my first checkup.

I may if I don't get used to the hard lenses, it was a possibility for me at least. The doctor recommended hard lenses to me because I spend a lot of time in front of a computer for both my job and outside of that.
And yeah, if these lenses started to act like HDR instead of bloom I'd be very happy

I've had horrible experiences with lenses. One hurt my eyes and the other slept with my girl.

This is a temporary solution for me. I went to a laser clinic a few weeks ago since I've always wanted to have that done. However because my eyes are -8 they adviced not to go ahead with that because even if my eyes perfectly qualify the chance of complications would be far too high since they'd have to take off about the entire outer layer .
I was adviced to try out contacts and see if that works for me. In a few years I should qualify for lens implants, and the technology behind that should be far more optimized to make it the operation safe for me. I am hoping though contacts work out for me, since having a part of your eye replaced does sound a bit scary

It sounds like the lens is having trouble transitiong to the movement of the eye or responding to the eyelids closing over it. This could be due to improper lens fit or that your eyes are to dry. Call your eye doc and set up an appointment to get them checked out. It "should" not cost you anymore since it is a follow up.

Hey, I work in the industry; IĈm not an optometrist though so always consult them.
Hard lenses give you great vision at a price; they are not as comfortable as softs and as a result are not very popular. They take longer to get used too and won't settle on your eye instantly if you rub them or if you get movement when you're blinking.
Most people are looking to wear contact lenses for cosmetic reasons and go for the soft type as they are much more convenient and comfortable, the trade off is that they don't tend to give better results than glasses.
I work on a computer all day and need glasses myself, which I wear to do this, I want the reflective UV coating and the shaper vision I get with them. If I go out I stick in my contacts, they're fine for everything else I want to do.
I suppose you have to ask yourself why you want to wear them and for what tasks.

Thanks for the advice Voltain. If I keep having problems around computers I may keep my glasses for work. Having the lenses in for a few hours though I notice it is already going a bit better. *hopeful*
