Like the title says, I would like to be able to disable the ability to doubleclick to move my ship or at least make it only work when I hold ALT or something, I seem to be having some trouble with my mouse where it is registering doubleclicks sometimes when I have actually only clicked once. As you can imagine if I am not paying attention this can lead to problems.
So, any help?

Only thing I can suggest is check your double-click settings in your OS to make sure that the timing is such that it's where you're comfortable with. I think that's all EVE uses. That being said, I can see in some situations where it'd be extremely handy to have something other than a double-action to register a move command.
Such as situations like a fleet battle where for whatever reason a double-click might get lagged out.

All I can say is I'm pretty sure it isn't my mouse, I tested and tested and tested in the doubleclick speed box and it never registered wrong once but it happens often in EVE.

Hmm, I don't think there's any way to change or disable the double-click to move thing.
That said I agree with you on the fact that I wish there was. In some situations you barely notice your ship moving, especially if you're dividing your attention between Eve and something else. Heck, I probably won't have been the first person to accidentally drift away from my can at 50m/s during a mining op, only to realize this when you're 15km's away from the dang can when you need to unload.

Honest to goodness, I have to triple-click to move. It's just the way it is. Doubleclick don't work, but three in a row works fine.
Don't ask me why, I ain't got a clue. Using an MX518, too.
Triple-click for the win, I guess.

I had this problem once , the ship would start to wonder off of its own accord every so often. A new mouse fixed the issue.

Yeah, I'd say new mouse time. I had an old logitech cordless that started doing this after awhile. Basically the micro-switch under the left button cover was either wobbly in it's mounting or the switch was just dying.
I did find that doing the Ah-Nold (Arnold in arnold-speak... as schwarzenegger) click seemed to to help. Basically, really bearing down on it when you single clicked.
Tends to wear your finger out fast though. Though that does help motivate you down to the store to buy a new mouse faster.

I had this problem a bunch when I had to install the AMD dual core optimizer software to get a couple of old games to run properly, ended up getting bored with them and uninstalling the optimizer software so i could play EVE without going nuts.

Don't know if it can be done, but I know that when you double-click an object in overview, your ship defaults to approach that object. That function has cost me some ships as in laggy situations, when all I wanted to do was target a ship in the OV, I find my ship turning about and approaching instead!!
I'd definately like to know how to turn that off.

Ah, then perhaps it is my mouse after all. I will buy a new one. It has been a good mouse so I will buy the same one, a Razer Krait.
