Everyone says Absolution is best for PVP and Damnation is best in a group in a warfare link support role. Just as most people (though not all) favor guns VS Missiles in PVP.
Bear with me a sec . . .
(Foregoing CPU issues that I have not calculated yet)---the Damnation could fit HAMÆs + Medium Lasers. Add to that the fact that it has an and extra medium slot and you can . . .
1.) Scan down a ship and switch to the damage type that is most likely it weakest resists. Most people I have known thus far tends to tank for Kin and Therm. So VS say a Myrmidon (for example) you could use Explosive.
2.) Armor tanks tend to have good EM resists. So switching damage types on the fly might = an advantage over the Absolution.
3.) HERE is what might be the possible trumping card over the Absolution, (At least in theory) An extra medium slot means you could fit 1 MWD, 1 Scram, and 2 ECCMÆs.
----Add to that drones for DPS, Web, or ECCM . . .
ItÆs a working theory, so I wanted to bring it here and see what others think about the idea. The main stay of this is the notion of being able to choose damage types on the fly and that ECCM = a much better tank by reducing DPS
Not to mention the black looks really cool.
All opinions are welcomed . . .

actually torp ravens **** ass in pvp, missiles are great, no tracking issues, only problem are nanos... but those are disappearing...
Problem with your idea: Damage bonuses on damnation....they arent there. I guess you could rely on the fact that the thing is near impossible to kill within a reasonable amount of time...but most should be able to tank you too.
Just my thoughts.

I've had a few damnation setups in my head for a while I've eft'd them here and there and i think the most I can get is about 320 dps maybe a bit less, I've tried it with autocannons / hams / pulse lasers / blasters / mix of all the above, abso on the other hand does like 610 dps with my skills.
So the trade off really is massive tank half the damage or twice the damage and a lesser tank

Or what you can do if you can dual account is a Damnation support fit and an Absolution for laying out the smack down on whatever you go for 
Back on point: I think I'm going to stick to my Absolution for solo/small gang work as the tank on it is nice with nearly all resists 80% + and it still rocks a little over 600dps

been pvping with the damnation from teh start.. they always said i was crazy..
hehe but hey i am :) it rocks tough altough dmg output is very limmited..
