Hi
As a bit of a production nnob I was wondering at what point it's not worth researching the BP for ME.
A look at escrow shows BPC's with an me of 5 up to some in the thousands. Is there a general rule that can be applied like:
Ships ME20 Modules ME100
Thanks in advance PL ===============================================

there is a formula somewhere i have read about that will tell you. In the long run on ammo, it reaches the so called zero wastage factor around an ME of 50. For example, the Uranium Charge M hits zero wastage at about ME 54. Any ME higher than that give no benefit at all as it will always reuire the same minerals above that me level. Ships mu go a lot higher to hit the zero wastage point (something like ME of 500 for a shuttle) but after about me 15 to 20 there is not a huge difference (Shuttle ME 0 - 2750 trit; ME 10 - 2523 trit; ME 500 - 2500 trit). On the bigger ships it it very similar. once you get between 10 and 15 there may be some change but much past 20 and it is not really worth the time if your researching or the cost if buing a copy.

Thanks for that.
So on average then anything past 15-20 on ships and 50-60 on most other stuff isn't worth paying any extra for. I realise that it's probably a gross simplification but it will do me as a rule of thumb.

The total mineral cost difference for a Raven BPc
ME5 - ME10 = 610K ME10 - ME20 = 350K ME5 - ME20 = 960K
Thats using current market prices. Percentage differences;
ME5 - ME10 = 0.75% ME10 - ME20 = 0.4% ME5 - ME20 = 1.2%
960K can be saved by buying the Zydrine at 134isk per unit less or the Tritanium at 0.12isk per unit.
Considering that ME5 BS BPc are considered to be 'worthless' by many if you are building ships they are definately worth buying.
