Hey all
I was hoping some of you would be able to help out with a few questions I have regarding fitting this fine ship. I have read a few threads regarding this and I see there is a shield tanked Myrm setup but I would like to keep true to it's nature and go with a dual armor rep setup. I will be using this for level 3 missions and perhaps if viable as a tank for level 4's.
My current setup is: (I only have 5mil SP)
High: 5 x 150mm 'Scout' Acceleration Cannons 1 x Drone Link Augmentor
Mid: 1 x Named AB 1 x Named Webber 1 x Named Medium Capacitor Booster (800 charges) 2 x Named Cap Rechargers
Low: 2 x MAR II's 3 x N-Type Active Hardeners (2 for main rat damange, 1 for secondary) 1 x EANM
Rigs: 2 x CCC 1 x Auxiliary Nano Pump
Drones: 3 x Berzerkers 5 x Hammerheads 5 x Hobgoblins
My questions are:
1) I was thinking of dropping the 150mm scouts and replacing them with 4 x 200mm rails and 1 x small remote armor rep for my drones. Is this a good idea and if not then do you suggest something different? I don't want to cross train to projectiles.
2) I was also thinking to drop one of the hardeners and replace with a 1600mm plate. Primarily for level 4 missions to have the extra buffer in case of lag, disconnects or massive alpha strike.
3) I am a bit confused as to what drones to use. I can't seem to get comfortable with any of the above... they don't seem to be doing enough damage. Especially the heavy drones, I have heavy drones on 4 and drone interfacing on 4. Does this change drastically with T2?
4) Any other suggestions would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks and fly safe. |

I would personally swap out most or all the mids for cap recharger IIs, as I don't like cap boosters for missions, other than that your setup resembles mine. The 150mms are good enough if you stick to lvl 3s, and they're easier to fit. For the plate I suppose you could, though I wouldn't try to solo a lvl 4 in a myrmidon in the first place, and it wouldn't matter quite as much if you have allies with you. As for the drones, yes, t2 makes a big difference.

If your drones are being shot at then you're doing something wrong.
As far as dropping one of the hardeners for a plate my advice would be dont. Your tank is active, which means you want your resists as high as possible - that way the reps give you more ehp per cycle and you have a stronger tank. For level 4s you'll be far better off in a domi. You can throw out 5 heavies for the bs's and still have 5 meds for all the annoying little cruisers/frigs, let alone the fact you can tank a fair bit more.
For your mids you're never going to need the web cos med drones will catch anything that's that close in missions and this means you can have 4 cap rechargers and a ab - no cap booster charges to carry. Or buy for that matter

Edited by: Schnitzar on 04/09/2008 10:51:47 Sorry, havn't read the other replies but:
Change the meds to AB + cap rechargers, Dont mix drones, find out what damage type you need for a mission and load them in, most missions deal 2 damage types so use another active hardener in place of the EANM.
Other than that a good setup. Just make sure your cap skills are good, otherwise you may want to add a third CCC rig.
For a few of your other questions:
-for level 3's stick with the smaller guns to pick off smaller rats -dont fit the plate -tech II drones make a huge difference, but the myrm's drone damage is just not what it used to be
Personally I would get into a Domi asap, most of the skills will transfer across, and it will tank better and deal more damage.
edit: stuff

Why fly a myrm when you can use a hurricane. :[
The drone bonus isn't enough on the myrm as the bandwidth sucks, plus since there're no turret bonuses you're more likely to fit autocannons instead.
Just use a hurricane with some ECM drones. You actually get a massive bonus to autocannons too. :/
Edit: If it could field 4 Ogre II's, that'd be interesting. ------------------------------------------

He's using it for missions, where Myrmidon > Hurricane.
At any rate, there is nothing really wrong with a Myrmidon. It's a ship with a different piloting style, but it's not really weaker then a Hurricane except for pure gank*, and has its uses in small gang / solo situations which Gallente are made for.
100m3 bandwidth might be OK, though, would have to check. There is no concieveable reason to use ACs on a Myrmidon (except for improved damage at range), it can fit blasters perfectly well and work up close.
*It can also do very good pure gank in much the same way a Hurricane does pure gank, though, and yes, it does involve completely ignoring one of its bonuses

Projectiles are capless. xD
That reason is enough to make me want to fit them on my Myrms, but yes. =¦

Better use a Damage Control (T2) for this purpose. You will warp faster and get better active tanking.
Also, for L4 missions don't bother with the Myrmidon. A Drake will do them fine, but with a Myrmidon you will both be in trouble often and do them very slowly.
How to PVP: 1. buy ISK with GTCs, 2. fit cloak, learn aggro mechanics, 3. buy second account for metagaming

That's silly - Medium Cap Booster II + 800s, if you're active tanking, gives you enough cap to run the reps and the blasters.
If you're not active tanking, well, you still got cap to spare to run blasters anyway even without the cap booster Sig removed, inappropriate link. If you would like further details please mail [email protected] ~Saint |
