Crashing problem that was so resently fixed seems to of returned.
I cant more than 5 jumps without crashing. Crashes will occur when the screen seems to reload. Typically happens on a gatejump but also happens on Docking / undocking, Entering or leaving the Map etc. Ive done the usual stuff such as dropping graphics setting to minimal and turning off mumble but still problem persists.
Im currently on osx snow leopard but noticed there's a fix on a recent patch for osx Lion crashing. Is upgrading to lion likely to make eve more stable me?

The only thing I know for sure is the the Nvidia drivers were updated in Lion and fixed some things for me. I haven't heard about the ATI drivers but I would be surprised if they weren't updated as well.
Lion is a good update but does change the behavior of the Finder some and I'm a firm believer in staying up to date with the latest OS release. |

I updated to Lion. Eve does seem more stable but will still crash quite often.
Typical crash message is as follows.
Quote:Assertion failed at address 0x000b:0x913d69c6. Do you wish to debug it ? If you say Yes is just vanishes. if you say no then follows up with message.

My experience is very similar to yours (though I have not upgraded beyond Snow Leopard) - frequent crashes docking/undocking and jumping; receiving the "Do you wish to debug?" dialog that simply vanishes. Crashes are about every 10 min with my current play style, very frustrating! |

Yeah since Incarna 1.1 and thru out all the recent patches I have had a very high frequency of various attempts to dereference a NULL pointer, assertions, etc. that bring up the "Do you wish to debug it?" dialog. I believe I see it most when docking / undocking, doing PI, or just doing things while in station. I see it much left often while in space except when jumping.
I would love to help gather more information for CCP if you they can provide some information on how best to do that (they are trapping things such that no crash logs are being generated, etc.). CCP I am a long time Mac and Windows developer so I am well versed in debugging issues if you want to throw tools / advice my way.
...would love to get some stability back in the current eve client. |

+1 . . . and no, Incarna 1.1.1 did not lessen the frequency of crashes on my client, sigh. |

I believe I can cause the client crash during docking/undocking by giving keyboard or mouse input during the docking/undocking sequence . . . if, for instance, I'm typing in chat or spamming the right mouse button to instawarp, the client crashes.
Can anyone else confirm this? |

I updated to Lion. The game seems to crash less frequently but still does it.
Since the 1.1.1 Update the Error message text has changed slighty

Greatly reduced the frequency of crashes by deleting my prefs.ini and using the graphics presets for maximum performance, i.e. "looks crappy but doesn't crash much" . . . if I use the maximum quality presets, it becomes unstable again. |

Problems still persist after mini patch today. Happened on my 3rd docking after 1/2 hour of play.

Ive had it crash while afk autopilot so dont think it related to any keyboard/mouse input. |

I have a lot of crashes whilst in dock or docking, similar errors to what your having. Recent patches have made it a LOT worse than it was. |

Still an issue. But today had it while warping to a gate. Happened when landing on grid with the gate so leading me to think this caused by a bug with the overview or brackets loading up.

I've been getting horrible crashes, really only on this account though. which is odd. now on the other hand, my other account doesn't really leave its system very often since he mines. I'm unfortunately planning on buying a PC just for Eve because in three months when I'm in a Carrier, I'll not be in the mood for DC's when flying a billion isk ship. It seems like I've experienced crashes for over a year with Mac and it just seems like CCP has gone downhill keeping up with the Mac community. here's my specs

Since last patch (today) I get crashes from the cider engine. Very often. Not funny in fleet fights.
This was already all fixed....

Disclaimer: I don't own a Mac atm. What I report is just second hand experience. YMMV (wildly)
Try to reinstall the game.
From scratch.
Deleting with extreme prejudice all the previous directories, included settings and cache. Download the full, huge installation package. Install it as it was the first time you play the game.
Yes, it means you lose your window positions, preference, everything you customized. And probably not even overview import/export will work.
Still, it's something that solved the "frequent crashes" for a friend with a MBP. << THE RABBLE BRIGADE >> |
