the 7970 was used as a "baseline" so whatever the 7970 got was ranked as 100% (1.0) for each test Teamspeak 3 with API and Web Interface Hosting with Member Rewards!!-á: http://alturl.com/asde8 Catch me on EVE Gate, im allmost always on it!

OMFG! The GTX680 can render vertical green bars so much faster/better/stronger than the AMD cards!
OP, can we get a graph with the price per green-bar-rendering performance breakdown?

why extend the graph lower? its balanced the graph goes as low as it needs to go and goes as high as it needs to go it counts up by .1 it counts down by .1, how much more unbiased do you need it????? Tom's Hardware review of the 680: http://www.tomshardware.com/reviews/geforce-gtx-680-review-benchmark,3161.html
Summary:
Quote:GeForce GTX 680 is now the fastest single-GPU graphics card, and not by a margin that leaves room to hem or haw. Making matters worse for AMD, the GTX 680 is priced right between its Radeon HD 7970 and 7950. Providing that NvidiaGÇÖs launch price sticks, both Radeon HD 7900s need to be significantly less expensive in order to compete. I'd expect to see the 7970 drop $100. The 7950 would have to slide $50 to leave some room between the 7870 and 7970. ... Given our benchmark data, power results, a distinguished list of features, and a competitive price tag, the GeForce GTX 680 is easily a better gaming card than Radeon HD 7970. And because Nvidia finally supports more than two display outputs, I can consider Kepler for my own workstation.
That is, of course, if IGÇÖm able to part ways with $500. Budget-constrained gamers should remember that the Radeon HD 7870, which AMD previewed earlier this month, just recently showed up on shopping sites. Sitting right around $360, I consider it a smarter value than both of the 7900s. It trades blows with GeForce GTX 580 in the benchmarks, and it sips power. DonGÇÖt let todayGÇÖs GeForce GTX 680 news completely overshadow availability of what we consider to be a far more accessible piece of hardware. Kepler is cool, but itGÇÖs definitely pricey.
If you're after price per performance, wait for the expected ATI price drops. If you really want to shell out 500 USD for the 680, look at the games benchmarks and make sure the 680 is actually better for the games you play. Plus, don't forget that Nvidia will mostly likely release improved versions (more memory, better optimized, etc.) as they perfect the chipset.

It really is a nice card - Cysis2 maxed out with no overclock and no SLI?
Yes please.
BF3 @ 60 fps maxed out on Ultra?

And...it's just a mid-range card. Staggering performance.

Nothing to see here.
The GTX680 is a good card, and I will be picking one up shortly, but this graph is utter garbage. The methods used to get those numbers are dubious at best and don't reflect the real-world difference between the cards. I would recommend a site like HardOCP for a more objective review. If what I'm reading is right, has something to do with marketing, yes, as stupid as it might seem. Some manufacturers more inclined to sell stuff rather than have stuff working properly with proper drivers work on some chip and 1 or 2 declinations per year or 2 years. Another one, might it be the most known one or something alike chooses to bring something that offers performance, viability, with proper drivers and works every tech on his chip, might be software or cards, once per year or year and half.
Witch one should be high performance at the beginning and very low at the end of some tech, and with one would be good at the beginning and extremely performant at the end of life of his tech?

most benchmarks put the 680gtx about 5-10% faster then the 7970 before overclocks. atm yes the 680 is winning, but only because it is cheaper then the 7970 the second the price drops, hopefully by 100 or more it will be the better deall |

The biggest bottleneck for PC games right now is the desire of game manufacturers to publish games on consoles. In my opinion, if you run everything fast enough right now, you probably don't really need to upgrade for another year and a half when the new consoles start to arrive. I wouldn't do anything before Windows 8 either. |

Yeah overclocking really makes things interesting with these cards. Some people are able to get close to 30% overclocks on the core of the 7970 with some really impressive results. Once the GTX 680 drivers mature and OEM manufacturers start coming out with custom boards/designs we'll start to see what the card is really capable of.
Either way I think ATI needs to drop their price point to remain competitive. ICRS - Intergalactic Certified Rocket Surgeon |

Confirming that this graph is significantly different from the millions of graphs produced since I bought my first S3 card for VLB (and learned why not to buy S3 cards). Also confirming that ATI was somehow dragged into a dark alley and forcibly penetrated because of this graph. I'm ******* terrible at EVE.
