Hello, I've been messing around for a bit and some stuff I just can't figure out.
1) How long do jetcans last? The in game text says an hour but I've seen them last longer.
2) What's the deal with gear you can't put on the market? I killed some Shadow Serpentis rats and wound up with some stuff I can't use and the game won't let me put them up for sale. 2a) Also what's with the shadow serpentis tags? No LP store I've found wants them for anything and they aren't being bought or sold on the market.
3) How often do roid belts add new roids? IOW once a belt is mined out at minimum how long till it is minable again?

From what you describe, OP, you got some faction loot. You can't sell that on the open market, but you can sell it on contract. Be sure to check the going rate for that module and try to match or undercut the lowest regional price. Personally I hold on to most of my faction gear. You never know when you'll need stuff with T2 capabilities but T1 fitting reqs.

You have to use Contracts for factional items (except tags and ammunition I believe), they don't go on the Market. Set up an Auction (or Item Exchange for ISK) if you want to sell such stuff.

Trashing faction loot? Uh... Bad idea! That stuff is probably worth a fair coin.
As another poster suggested, use contracts to trade faction loot. Search for existing contracts to get an idea on what the going rate is for that item.

It has been a while since I used jetcans, but iirc an unnamed can will last for about an hour and a named can will last for around 2 hours.

Generally speaking, Monday and Friday are roid respawn days. |

The asteroids respawn a little bit of ore at downtime, and I think they respawn completely once or twice a week.
Faction items... good stuff. DO NOT TRASH. Go to the Contracts interface and search the "available contracts" for the whole universe to see what other people are selling the same item for. Then you can put up a sale or auction contract of your own.
Jet cans last between 1 and 2 hours. I think the way it works is there's a "cleanup" routine that the server does once per hour, and it deletes cans over an hour old. So you can get anywhere from 1 hour + 1 second to 1 hour + 59:59, and you won't know.
Most people name their cargo containers with the time they were jettisoned, as a reminder of how old they are... remember you can always make a new can.

Thanks guys. I didn't trash the faction stuff. Although I still don't quite get it, why not let the stuff be sold on the market? My toon has 9 market slots but only one contract slot so it's going to be slow going getting rid of the faction items I already have.

Usually the contracts interface is for stuff that's been modified from its original Market form. For example, ships with rigs in them, or blueprints that have been researched.
The faction stuff, it's considered better than T2, and I guess CCP wants us to use the cumbersome contracts system to make these items seem "mysterious" and "rare". The stuff is basically the equivalent of the purplest of purples, you aren't going to see it on the auction house (Market).

1) Jet cans seem to last about 2 hours. I've read some adamant statements that it is two hours exactly every time but can't confirm that myself. You can name the jet can with the time it was created to let you know how long it's been out and ... if you are paying attention, when it pops. This will ***NOT*** make the can last longer. It only lets you know when you put it out.
Jet Cans are NOT the same as Giant Secure Containers. A GSC can be passworded and anchored in a .7 or below system and will stay there indefinitely as long as you come visit it again within 30 days. If you don't access it within 30 days then it will go away. If you don't anchor it then someone else can come along and steal it. There are lights on the GSC that will show you if it is anchored. Red or Green (I forget which is anchored and which isn't). So anyone coming by can just look at it and see if it is anchored. Since they are expensive - don't expect it to be there when you come back if you don't anchor it. You cannot anchor it in .8 and above systems. So if you deploy one there expect it to be stolen.
2) If you've got some stuff that won't sell on the market it is well worth learning about contracts. Some of that stuff will sell for a fortune.
3) Each Solar System has a specific routine it refreshes it's asteroid belts on. To learn what that routine is you have to go out there and check.
1.0 and .9 systems pretty much all refresh every day.
.7 systems seem to refresh twice a week. Monday and Friday is one schedule. I think Tuesday and Thursday is another.
I can't really speak to any of the other levels and what schedules they follow. I suspect that .8 is every day but am not sure. As the GM I asked about this told me - you just have to go out and look every day to figure it out - for each individual belt. If you want to do that, go to a specific belt and put a hole in it so you know it has been mined. Then come back to that belt right after down time is over, (so you know no one else has been there) and see if that hole you put in the belt is gone. Right down the day that happened and keep up that routine every day for a week. I don't think there are any belts that don't refresh at least once a week but can't can't be positive about that.

Another question, before I do something unwise, can you put a GSC inside a different GSC?

Has anybody ever seen a Gallente Starbase Control Tower_Tough_Good Loot on a mission? I'm of course pounding the thing but just curious if this is a gag.
