So...a bit over 2 months ago, this thread was started in Features and Ideas Discussion. 18 pages, and still not one dev response even saying "NO!". The argument is effectively that a pirate BS + Noctis to all extents and purposes outperform Marauders at their own role, having noticeably less training time, much easier fitting, better sensor strength, better scan res, etc etc. Many griped that the salvaging bonus was effectively worthless and greater damage, removal of the sensor strength debuff, and all sorts of other potential ideas for improvement was in order.
Now, with the impending introduction of salvaging drones, Marauders may well be finding themselves even more obsolete. So I ask CCP, have you seen this thread? Is there currently any internal discussion going on about ways in which Marauders might be improved? Or have you already decided to leave them as is to prevent power creep? Or perhaps some other reason? I think myself and a lot of other players would very much like to hear your thoughts, as Marauders are ships that require rather significant time to train, and thus anyone piloting them are pretty heavily invested.
And I guess to everyone else reading this, what are your thoughts on Marauders? Bunch of whiny mission bears? Or a legitimate issue that could use a thorough looking over? |

1. Remove Marauders from game
2. Implement PVP flag -> Immunity to being shot
3. Turn the server off permantely and relize, EVE was a stupid concept of All Risk vs **** Reward when it comes to PVE fit active tanks that just crumple under passive fit PVP combat ship, meaning the training was a waste of time because paying $15 USD a month to pretend to be a sheep or goat to some other dude who thinks I should just be a sheep or goat to his "lone wolf / lion king" so he can improve his game score. Lets not forget that his game score for the PVP pilot, is buffered on the fact that PVE ships are a crutch so he can *flips on cheesy 80's sunglasses* look good when the PVE ship was at the disadvantage to begin with. So grats on your exiting killmail after you you used a vigil bait ship and Captain Darwin managed to lick his own ear when he shot back, so if EVE was a RL analogy lets merge the real Olympics with the Special Olympics and you will easily outrun the ****** who can drown in his own drool but that gold medal you earned was given out so you too can feel special at no actual effort to yourself.
I am more for the last option, as the first two are sarcasm. But we can wait another 18 months before Marauders are looked at, after DUST has moved to the back burner from all the hype and I will probably not be playing the game unless the next expansion is exciting at all .
Note: And salvage drones...oh the Jedi are going to feel this. Unless CCP does something else, remember that Salvage drone skills were put in in place and then removed while the skill itself was left in, becoming a collectors item worth billions. And then it loses value...I think Enity is going to go all Darth Vader on Chribba unless Mr. Veldpsar manages to pull the "I am...your father!" card |

I'm gonna be really surprised at any empirical evidence that suggests Faction BS + Noctis > 2 Marauders for any content that requires you to loot the field for your ISK.

Noctium does not really impact what Marauders do GÇö using one requires wasting time on a second visit to the site, and to be worth-while, it also requires that you spend time and kill as many ships as possible. Marauders let you get a bit of salvaging and looting in while blitzing the site, without wasting time on needless killing, ship-swapping and additional travel.
Drones might change this dynamic somewhat, but then again, you can use those same drones on the Marauder and further their ability that way, and either way, you have to manage them (i.e. pull them in early) not to waste even more time while they truck around the field doing their thing. GÇ£If you're not willing to fight for what you have in GëívGëí you don't deserve it, and you will lose it.GÇ¥

Most people dual box for this reason. Shadoo > Always remember to fit Cynosural Field Generator I, have 450 Liquid Ozone in your cargo and convo a friendly Pandemic Legion member if you have a capital or super capital ship tackled.

Noctium.
Noctis is genitive singular; Noctium is genetive plural. Noctes (nom.pl.) would make sense if the ship's name was Nox (nom.sing.).
I did mess up the "does" though GÇö it should be "do" since we're talking about a plural here.

That is an outrage. Two players should not outperform a marauder. Ever. That's what you are saying?
Now, if they do release salvage drones, marauders might need some kind of buff. |

For the record, I haven't even posted in that thread. I think the people saying that were arguing that you were better off blitzing with a high dps faction BS for a few missions, then coming back in a Noctis and looting all the fields later. I don't even mission anymore, so can't really say how true that may or may not be. Even when I did mission, I never salvaged, since it was a waste of time in my opinion after factoring in opportunity cost. I just want to get other people's opinions, especially a developer opinion.
With that said? I do agree that Marauders are rather gimpy compared to faction BS. Even just with little things like scan res. There's plenty of larger things too. Lots of complaints revolve around the Golem's damage application difficulties, although I'm inclined to blame torps being bad more than anything else for that. I tend to think a NM is better than the Paladin in nearly every scenario. Moving tank to the mids is a big deal, and that tracking bonus is very nice as well. I'm honestly not that familiar with the Kronos or Vargur, so I won't really comment on those other than to say the Mach and Vindicator seem to be used quite a bit more. |

Looking in particular at the Golem, you likely won't be able to afford pulling in combat drones to deploy salvage drones, just because of torps anemic damage to frigs. Just a thought is all, without details, it's really impossible to say whether they'll ever be useful. |
