Nice apology. Only future will tell if it was enough and in time.
I guess Alex Gianturco has learned a few things here like not appearing on public worldwide TV drunk and that there is a limit to how far you can take the meta-gaming and ingame character.
I do hope he survive this storm as CSM chair. He did stupid but he also got 10k votes and I believe he is good for the game.
Good luck The Mittani. |

Bad PR for some is good PR for others. Did you listen to David Ried on fanfest?
Also, he got 10k votes and it might even be worse publicity for CCP if they sack this guy now.
Anyway, I do think it is blown out of proportions. He did stupid but that happens every minute in every MMO out there. The Mittani is however a public figure and he has many enemies and the forums really loves drama.
I think he has a good chance to survive this but he has to ride the storm first like any true politician has to do.

He should not resign. That is just as stupid as the remark he threw in during Q&A. He ran for office and got 10k votes. That is an obligation to the community to stay and fight like a true space politician.
I think he and CCP learnt a lesson here - expect the next alliance panel to be sober. |

Do you have any proof of that??
Remember, we are talking about a named person here, Alex Giantuco, and not about some game character. Maybe you like to through false accusations around without prooof just to smear peoples reputation IRL too.

It is getting press because press lives on drama and they have no trouble blowing things out of proportion in hopes of getting visitors to their sites.

Mecinia Lua wrote:I think its a good apology and it was the right thing to do. I listened to some of the streams from fanfest, I kinda had turned off the alliance one where the event occurred as it was clear most folks were drunk to me thus I didn't see this play out.
Ultimately though with the bad press etc, CCP will probably have little choice but to remove him from the CSM. However in light of the apology I hope that he does not receive a permanent ban from the game.
You didn't see the event but you want him to resign? That is the nature of the mob. |

One who acts on camera like a pompous, drunk, sneering court jester is not what the community needs from the figurehead that represents the interests of the playerbase. We have been badly let down and CCP must act. You had your chances to elect someone else but since you din't take that chance you are now jumping in on this to try to force him out of his elected chair?
This thread alone represent more abuse than Mittens stupid on the spur of the moment remark in the Q&A at fanfest.
You may not like him but he has 10k voters that count on him in the CSM.

THIS.....is the dumbest response here. PERIOD. They VOTED for someone else....................good God, alcohol really does destroy the mind. How do you know what 'they' voted for? I guess you didn't vote for Mittens ... maybe you didn't even vote at all. |

You should not be representing the players of this game to the world as the CSM Chair or on the CSM. You need to do the right thing and resign. .
You clearly didn't watch it so how come you are making judgements on his behaviour?
He went out of line in a spur of the moment remark after his presentation during Q&A. It was not part of his presentation. |

What is your point exactly? With a conservative interpretation of these rules, all alliance leaders at fanfest should be banned and most players too. A more liberal interpretation might free everybody. |

We reserve the right to ban any user from the game without refund or compensation. Thats the catch all for removing anyone they want regardless of barrackroom laywers trying to slide between the spaces. Bottom line. CCP can delete his accounts and IP ban him any time they like and there is no legal comeback. Just like any other player. They can do that with you too. Does that make you a villain? |

You don't get it do you? He doesn't apologise for his presentation. He apologies for the remark he made during Q&A.
I for one think the mindless mob mentality behind anonymous posting aliases on Internet forums is much worse than that slip of the tongue.
The most pathetic ones in this thread are the ones still circling the cadavre like vultures and likely also feeling very good about it. You should start thinking about what RL issues makes you want to taste blood on the internet. Wouldn't it be better to grow a pair and speak up against your mother, boss or whomever you think is not treating you with the respect you believe you deserve.
Chill out.

Do you see the difference here? It is a game and we do things in this game that we would never do IRL. In fact, some of the activities we do in game would lead to capital punishment in some (primitive) countries IRL.
People RP in EVE. And so does the Mittani. He is RPing a goon leader and as such he does what is expected of a goon leader. If you want his respect in game you have to figure out how to earn respect of a goon. Simple as that.
The alliance panel is part of EVE online. It is an RP arena hosted by CCP and is very much part of the meta-game of EVE. If you want evidence for that interpretation you might consider the ban put on him by CCP for breaking the EULA/TOS.
