from The Last Mittani. The Last Brennevin.
There is no way in hell that booze is ever going to be an official component of any CCP Fanfest from here on in. No more official dev pubcrawls (officially). No more drunken alliance panels (thank goodness, because the drunken portions were always a waste of time.) No more live drinking game/quiz shows. The alliance panel might survive in some form, with breathalyzers given beforehand (you can pick these things up at a 7-11 now for a few bucks). Hell, the best portion of the 2012 Alliance Panel was presented by quite sober wormhole people. No one is talking glowingly of any portion of the alliance panel where the presenters were stone-cold drunk. Sober people find drunk people ******* dumb. Only drunk people find stumbling drunks hilarious.
CCP needs to put on a new face. So the 10th Anniversary Fanfest will be a different affair. There'll still be drinking and drunks, just not as part of the official proceedings. There will still probably be devs to hang out with and crawl pubs, but not listed on any of the Fanfest informationals. They will be fan organized events. And that's cool. And as it should be.
CCP is moving forward. This is to be expected. I didn't expect the see the Alliance Panel in its regular format next year, even if no drama had erupted from it. Except for a couple of groups (who happened to be sober), it has become a colossal waste of time. There might be a fan organized alliance panel, not at the convention site, but CCP isn't going to touch it with a ten foot pole, nor will they allow any employees to attend.
As for The Mittani. It is a shame that he's been booted from the CSM. CCP had to do this, given the publicity. Obviously, before anything erupted, CCP was unbothered by what occurred. They were in attendance, after all. No action was taken until it all became radioactive.
It's a lesson in hubris for Alex. He's been feeling quite untouchable for the last year. That anything he did, he was going to find himself above the fray, no matter how many people he pissed off and outraged. He discovered the line this week.
I feel bad for him, though. His game has become the meta-game, and his persona has become that of the King of Space. This is going to be a harsh and sudden change for him.
I'm not sure he's going to enjoy being out of the spotlight. I expect he's going to be tremendously bored just playing space CEO. By this time next year, I wouldn't be surprised if he decided to move on from EVE Online to other activities. And if Mittens departs, many Goons will likely follow. The game will be worse for his departure. Worse with fewer Goons. The STAIN Travel Bookmark Collection - 451 Bookmarks |

This, at least if anything good comes from this it is that Jade as exposed himself for what he trully is. An open and honest post on goon forums is "secretly writing vitreolic poison" simply because it dared to criticize jade. |

Im going to be honest about this.
When he said he was going to step down on his twitter I thought. "OH he gets it" but then he tried to cling to his power desperately showing that he didnt actually care or reflect on what he did. Had he just stepped down from the CSM instead of trying to weasel his way out of it this would not have become the mess it became.
Thats when it became clear he had to go. |

The Mittani apologises and donates his ISK to The Wis. 5. The Mittani, after consultation, resigns as chair and from the CSM (Wasn't very clear if he is off the CSM). 6. After almost 10 years of playing this game, and yes reading posts for all those years, I decided to write in because of this matter.
First, I would like to say Eve is a great game and I continue to play because of CCP and their abilities to listen and provide great content on occasion. With that cudos out of the way let's get to the point
This year I watched all of Fanfest on live stream and after watching the Alliance Forum this year I must say I found it hard to be proud of the fact I have been a member of Eve Online for almost 10 years based on th actions I saw. I found the forum a waste of my time and it made me sick (or maybe sad is a better word here) to see all the things said and done during the forum event.
I found it sad that the big (and small) Alliances members of this forum felt the need to be drunk in public, use the F-bomb word, say any cuse words the could to grab attention from another forum member, and constantly and basically act like a member of Animal House during a public and streamed event. I love beer, the F-bomb, cusing, and the movie Animal House but there is a place and time that they are appropriate to use those things and act like a high school kid. Passing a bottle of booze around on stage and telling everyone how superior you are to them and telling people to get a life is not what the Forum was for. I thought I would learn something new as always watching this but all I learned is that some people think they are bigger than the game itself and find it funny to make fun of others and push them to the point of no return. Thats not right ad I guess people her agree.
During the broadcast I watched the CCP moderator just stand there but never step in which also pissed me off. I was so stupid and obvious the forum had become meaningless and was just a forum for where each member wanted to bolster his god-like image in Eve. It was obvious that bringing up a specific Eve plauer and calling them out was the wrong thing to do and Im glad CCP did something about it in the end. It was far too late though.
As for Mittens, it was wrong and claiming you dont remember saying waht you did and said that night is just a lame excuse and is no excuse.
Skinny, drunk and stupid is no way to go through life but it seems some people feel it is.

The Goon Web Page item:
Quote:When in Iceland, I stumbled: my presentation was boring, I was hideously drunk, and I said something entirely regrettable. My apology upon my return was not a troll (though our in-game enemies are trying to imply it is just a calculated move); as a maniacal control freak, me getting that drunk leaves me with a foul opinion of myself and I wish I hadnGÇÖt done as I had.
-- snip ---
After I fell on my sword in public in an act of honest contrition, anyone still holding a grudge about my presentation and making ****** posts about it is probably one of GSFGÇÖs ancient foes, or someone we blew up in Eve -Pnline. The same old rogueGÇÖs gallery is there GÇô all the same faces and their NPC alts who cry in each and every anti-Goonswarm thread, every goddamned day.
-- snip ---
This isnGÇÖt to say that I didnGÇÖt act like a jackass GÇô I fell on my sword for a good reason. But the media shitstorm is a nexus of several factors working together, accelerated by people who hate us in the game itself.
-- snip ---
I apologized personally to The Wis; There is no question that I went too far and drank too much, and ignored advice that I shouldnGÇÖt use that specific slide at all. Many of you disagree, and thatGÇÖs fine; as you know, IGÇÖm kind of a squishball in person rather than an internet hardman. That said, my apology to The Wis doesnGÇÖt extend towards the gaming media who are trying to make a quick buck by whoring traffic by dumping on me without actually investigating what took place, and that apology certainly doesnGÇÖt extend to hypocritical shitbags like Jade Constantine or Issler Dainze who are explicitly trying to use this controversy to further an ingame political agenda.
His Twitter said he would resign. It did not specify from what, which was perhaps a miscommunication and he should certainly have expected everyone to pick **** out of his words.
The Mittani wrote:Just landed. Step one, apologize profusely. Step two, resign. Step three, send all my isk to the victim. Entirely my fault and unacceptable.
Trust me - I was as disgusted by his behavior as you. But it is understandable that he wanted to discuss step 2 with the CSM and perhaps CCP, isn't it?
And now he has resigned as chairman, was removed from the CSM by CCP, donated all his ISK to The Wis and has been issued with a 30-day ban.
How much more do you want? Should he come groveling at your feet at your house and kiss your boots too?
I'm starting to see the point here - it is starting to seem as if some players are trying to use this controversy to further an ingame political agenda - either to get rid of the Goonswarm or to further their own political goals within EVE Online.

You got off lightly, far as I'm concerned. You should have been completely and totally tossed out of this game for this. One thing that seems to have escaped the members of Goonswarm and others is that the Mittani's actions at FF could potentially bring a media storm CCP 's way where the game itself could suffer from being the subject of widespread media damnation.
Imagine what would happen if the mainstream media decides to run with this where cyber-bullying and harrassment over the internet is gaining more and more political involvement. Then look at the fact that 13+ year old children are allowed to be involved in the game and the potential is there for CCP being literally forced to change the game or lose their Teen rating if nothing else.
The elements that make EVE Online unique need to remain within the game and not spill over into internet broadcasted RL events or the potential is there for us all to eventually wear the consequences by having the game become a watered down shadow of what it once was.
Mittens gave CCP no choice but to take the action that they have and if he cares at all for the game then he should respect that.

To the first question, no. To the second two - no, that was evident from what happened. And no to the last one, he has said alcohol was no excuse for this behaviour.
I am sorry to hear you lost your brother. I've lost family members through natural causes and that was hard enough; even years later. But the Mittani is not to blame for the memories and feelings you have of him. |

This thread is full of conjecture masquerading as fact. Since he issued the apology, no where in this thread or in any other thread on any other forum have I seen a direct quote from The Mittani saying: I have decided not to resign. (clinging to power) Actually this is more CCP's fault, (weaselling way out)
Nor have I have seen anything from CCP indicating that course of events. Please note the Eve 24 leak/paste bin leak were written by the Mittani after his ban was initiated by CCP so did not contribute to the creation of the mess as you assert, but are irrelevant to your claims.
Heh. Why would I blind with rage that a drunken idiot who obviously broke the EULA terms and harassed a vulnerable player was punished by CCP? Oh wait that is another baseless assertion. |

Look, I still feel that he should be thrown out of the game forever for what he said, but I'm not going to cry on the forums here about what has happened, nor get dragged into a fight that I'll probably say something stupid; especially given how I feel right now.
The only thing Im getting from your random posts about your brother you somehow connect to Mittani is that it is ok to troll you on how your brother died otherwise why even bring such a personal thing up on the forums? You may as well admit to child **** or something and then expect nothing to happen. To not troll would be quite the crime. |

Your assuming the Goons can see the big picture.
The goons have a very myopic goon centered world view. Part of what you get from the SA community. Space wizards are real, they can make 10058 votes vanish into thin air. |

This is really too ludicrous to post about. I will have to stick to killing your space brothers in game I guess. |
