...after Eve Online FanFest panel accused of mocking suicidal player
Old news by now, yes. But what is even older news...is the manner in which the CSMs interact with the player base. At first it was funny, and then it became style to claim that their behavior reflected EVE's marketed "Cold and dark universe". Fine. But when you let something evolve on it's own for long enough, and when you allow it to be meta-gamed long enough, well, it will eventually get out of hand.
Anyone who holds a job knows that public relations is key to the company's success. You may hate the people that you serve, and you may hate the people that you work for, but a certain level of professionalism is required of you when you hold any position. It does not matter if you work at the Dairy Queen at the mall serving Ice Cream, or if you work in the medical field serving diapers. Some manner of professional conduct is life.
When a group of people are flown overseas, and sat down as a counsel towards a multimillion dollar corporation like CCP. One with investors and a grand advertising scheme, those individuals become a part of, what should be, an organization that demonstrates some level of professionalism and accountability. Why? Because they are public figures in a multimillion dollar company.
In the fanfest video I can clearly hear people in the audience saying "that guy is so full of ****" and it looks like there was a mass walkout at some point as well. People do not want to see a collection of meta-gamers drunk on a stage, and a company taking them seriously. They don't, period. They want to see some kind of standard of the excellence that CCP is supposed to represent, and they want to see people who can act intelligently in the public eye. That is something that a company should enforce upon anyone who chooses to fly under their banner. Your player base does not want a comedy act, we want to see people who will help us dream of the future of EVE Online. We want to feel like we become part of the company through the CSM elections. We want to be treated with courtesy by everyone that is under the banner of your corporation. That is what we want.
This is basic, universal and obvious conduct for any corporation, representative or employee in the world. It is required of every position of representation and public relations everywhere. So get your Meta-gaming CSM's to sober up and stop acting like a rabble in the public eye. Your oversight and absent standards at fanfest are to blame, not some random drunk guy named Alexander wearing a wizard's hat. He can say whatever he wants, but when you broadcast it around the world without the appropriate standards, the fault is on you. You represent yourself with a panel of inebriated rabble to the rest of the world and the EVE Community.
It's just not good business.

I think the Mittani threads have run out of unique titles. They're now starting to overlap on not only content, but titles as well.
Is this a sign that its going to burn itself out? I still have yet to see a moment where the entire first page of GD is mittani threads only. So i'm still holding onto hope that this isnt over. "War declarations are never officially considered griefing and are not a bannable offense, and it has been repeatedly stated by the developers that the possibility for non-consensual PvP is an intended feature." - CCP |

Thx for the bump. Although this thread is clearly about CCP and professional standards, not some random drunk guy named Alexander. I suggest that you go back and read it more carefully.

Thx for the bump. Although this thread is clearly about CCP and professional standards, not some random drunk gut named Alexander. I suggest that you go back and read it more carefully. You're right. That hasn't been discussed to death in any of the 200 other threads yet. Continue with your unique content.
