The hilarious thing? All these sites are citing each other, who are all citing a known anti-Goonswarm troll blog. This is quite literally a manufactured scandal by a bunch of crybabies who can't stand the idea that Mittani got THE BIGGEST MANDATE IN EVE HISTORY.

Xython, you are ******* moron.
This is by a massive margin the worst publicity blow for CCP in the history of EVE, and the only one to blame for it is The Mittani. You have to be really thick not to see that.
And you know what? CCP would lose nothing by booting him from the chair. No game company in the world wants this kind of publicity, and if it comes to the choice of replacing the chairman, it's a pretty easy decision between money and a few butthurt goons.
And fwiw, I could have voted for him and still could, it was a drunken joke went bad, but the fact is that it simply looks terrible to outsiders. No trolling, whining or this internal shitstorm can change the amount of damage this caused to EVE's public image.

I'm curious to see if the story escapes niche markets and hits more popular "news" sites.
This can turn into good publicity for CCP if they address the issue appropriately. So far they've made a stab at it, but they haven't gone far enough. They need to do another press release clearing the air as to what the panel was, what will happen (if anything) to The Mittani, that they offered the player (The Wis) a free name change, and what their Suicide Watch policy entails.
They can totally swing this into showing off what CCP and EVE Online does to assist those with challenges.
Or they can allow the story to grow on its own and become something very negative to the community.

It's sort of ironic that internet spaceship politicians and their supporters can take the CSM chair so seriously.
And then when their very own internet spaceship constituents call out in Jita protest, they're all suddenly "u mad bro?"

The Mittani already promised that he would step down. He is a non-factor now. For him to break that promise would destroy the fail that everyone has placed in him, and would undermine the whole point of him being there.
Once he has been replaced, things will simmer down. Its good that he is a man of his word, though. It would look terrible if he found some excuse to avoid it. "Oh well, guess I cant leave after all! Tooooo bad" Proof Titans are rare (just another null battle): http://i.imgur.com/CY6x4.jpg-áBattles in EVE can look kinda silly sometimes, huh? |

My position on the whole thing is quite simple. The Wiz is now aware of the situation and if he wishes so he can petition The Mittani. The result would be a temp ban. I know because I got somebody a 3 day ban that way. (You don't want to know my IP address or where my house is. At least you don't want to tell me that you know in an eve mail.)
So the whole media hype is completely out of proportion and only shows the lack of professionalism of those so called journalists.
At the other hand The Wiz could be generous and accept the public apologise and become a internet spaceship hero. You fancy telling him about his options?

You realize that when all this settle it could easily be remembered as the biggest meta-gaming battle of power in the history of EVE. Such stories tend to market EVE pretty well. |

There is no gaming news in the MMO market right now so this is it. Honestly some of those publications will do anything to push up their page views they'll ignore the facts like many of the people on these forums; because that's how they make money, page views. Tomorrow, it will be forgotten about.
Ever asked yourself the question, was the guy mining botting? Was he himself trolling to get a reaction? He seemed to joke about it recently.

That would be better, yes.
It's sad if some people want him off the power so badly that they need to hurt the game by making this worse than it is... but those news stories seem present the events as they happened, and tbh it's very ******* bad enough as it is. |

I guess the cruical word then is "concerned" and as such wether parents participate in scrutinising influences that might effect their children.
