learn to act like an adult and deal with it, not cry to people on the forums.

I know what the OP means. I used to work with kids and I've seen adults in this game behave far worst than any child. I made a simple mistake the other week because I wasn't aware of a game mechanic and some alliance rule that was buried deep in the forums and was somewhat vague to say the least on how to do things properly.
Suffice to say I was subject to instant and childish smacktalk in the local channel which included threats to pod me just because I'd made a mistake and then further smacktalk just because my characters age wasn't what they thought was accceptable. Rather than lowering myself to their level I just talked to them like they were a child that was being rude and eventually they told me what my mistake was and how to remedy and I made a point of tellig them that was all they had to do in the first place and smacktalking me isn't the way to go around correcting my mistakes.
Basically there are a lot of ****s in space who need to learn a few manners. I can only hope they aren't like this in real life because if they were they'd struggle to interact with other people and probably get their head kicked in. I guess being able to hide behind a computer gives some people the courage to be a tit. -------------------------------------------

Given the environment I work in swearing is fairly common place - especially after dropping a nice heavy rugged radio on your foot ;)
The only time I usually swear in local is as I'm either warping out in what's left of my ship/pod (delete as appropriate) or as I'm coming to terms with the realisation I'm about to end up back in my medbay.

For someone who was raised with such manners, why are you whining and reading other people's conversations (local or not)?
Why do you expect others to conform to you? You that special?
block people that curse and change local chat to be majority player list.

You're correct that people are adults and as adults we live in a world where people can say whatever they like and we don't run around crying and tattling.
What is truly offensive (other than telling people how to talk) is hateful language. You can spread homophobic and racist tripe without using any vulgarities whatsoever.
100% I shortened is slightly but I also agreed with the bits I deleted.
Having said that I choose not to swear in local. I like having the choice.

Personal attacks are a sign of weakness. People resort to them when they have no means left to do anything else and have lost control of the situation. From a newbie player who just lost his Raven to a gate camp to veteran pirate who cannot make a target undock - it is how they compensate for the loss of control and the general fail that the situation is to them.
As such you should not care about what they say ... seriously, so what if some random dude you don't know and will never know resorts to the ancient practice that our ancestors have resorted to for millenia: monkey see, monkey don't like, monkey flung poo? Why do you care? I personally think all ingame smack over pixelated internet spaceships is rather funny. Unfortunately I cannot ignore it completely myself too - it provokes me to start trolling the player to get ever more smack flowing, because rather than feel offended I simply take it as their confirmation of their loss in a given situation.

Calling it "adult" language doesn't make it so. Puerile smacktalk in local remains puerile smacktalk in local. I don't find it offensive so much as tedious and rather pathetic. Adults (of whatever age) don't need to posture and e-preen like that.
So yeah, I'd like the community to be more adult too.
You'd have to be pretty childish to be offended by words, so yeah I wish the whiners were more adult.
And smacktalk dose not = adult language or cursing, smacktalk is smacktalk and cursing is cursing.
Being upset cause people are calling each others mothers dirty filthy such and suchs is a different matter completely. -----------------

Not much you can do about because people can just hide behind there computer screens. It's the same in any online game really. And Blocking them dosn't do much good when you find out that having people in your block lists creates client side lag especially in large fleet fights. Always keep your block list.. well empty.

That about sums it all up. The ability to be anonymous brings out the true personality. It is unfortunate that there is such a large amount of jerks and a small amount of nice people. Seems to say something about the nature of humanity in my opinion.

I guess nobody told you (along with so many others) this before but U.S. laws actually only apply in the U.S.
And, not that it applies to this, there's absolutely nothing in the 1st that guarantees (or even suggests) that you have the freedom to say what you like wherever, whenever and however you like. Freedom of speech as described in the 1st is not, and never has been, anything like absolute. Maybe you want to read your own link and see what it actually says.

…in addition, the 1st amendment only limits what the US government can do to you — private entities are still fully entitled to censor you as much as they'd like.

You mean raised with brainwashing to believe that certain words somehow are evil.
Quote: Every where I go I see people cursing each other out, last night I asked for a fight with someone in Amarr and was called right off the bat.
You have a problem with people getting knowledge and you wish to censor what they can say. Whatever you might say is a "bad word" because even saying THIGH or BREAST way back were "BAD WORDS"
Quote: I can always block people but its getting to the point where everywhere I go I see people just vulgar nasty language.
QQ I have a problem when people use the word "V*lger" why must you use that bad nasty word.

You're correct that people are adults and as adults we live in a world where people can say whatever they like and we don't run around crying and tattling.
Really, who in the hell are you to dictate whether someone can utter curse words and vulgarities or not? This isn't Hello Kitty Online. This isn't a Disney game. You're not better than anyone else simply because you think certain words are "naughty". Good for you. I don't care.
I'm extremely offended by racist and homophobic remarks -- here and elsewhere. Now that truly is offensive. Words chosen to convey thoughts are not particularly offensive unless you're used to being daddy's pretty little princess and chastising people for choosing more colorful language. What is truly offensive (other than telling people how to talk) is hateful language. You can spread your homophobic and racist tripe without using any vulgarities whatsoever.
I really wish I could time travel to some period in the future where someone doesn't get their panties in a twist because someone says the F word. Not to mention, I can't wait to live in a world where the greatest catastrophe facing mankind is offending people by saying sh*t instead of "p00py" (which I find far more offensive for the sheer stupidity of the word).
So, in short, I don't give a **** if you were raised with manners. I was raised with free speech and the expectation that in return for my freedom to say what I like, I am expected not to prevent other people from saying what they like. Even if it's something I don't particularly care for.
As for vulgarity being a sign of low intelligence? I find that the most unintelligent people tend to be the ignorant twits who go around wasting their energy giving a damn how other adults speak. Just because you swear up a storm when you're at a bar or watching a game with some mates doesn't mean that your typical conversation consists of the same language.
Frankly, if you think that leveling such insults or judgments against us for our choice of colorful language bothers us in the least -- it does not. Not one iota. Such a person is clearly so unbelievably up-tight that they'd suck the joy out of any situation. Really, what could be a sign of lower intelligence than giving a damn what language other people use, anyway? And even more, whining about it on forums. Were yout he kid who ran to mommy and daddy if another kid said something on the playground? I don't doubt it.
Now, if you had been criticizing the actual DISCUSSIONS in Eve, I might be more likely to side with you. I don't care if someone talks about what a terrible F-ing day they had dealing with mother-F-ing gatecampers.
On racist and anti-gay hatespeech and other mindless, hateful, ignorant soap-boxing -- I would entirely agree with your disdain for it. However, you didn't say anything about that and were more concerned with people not conducting themselves as they would in the sunday-school class you apparently teach when you're not on Eve. Fortunately, I have found those topics to be rarer in Eve than elsewhere (thank the holy flying spaghetti monster for that!).
A+ would read again -

Yes because any such claim made on the internet has any weight behind it. As for bad language being a sign of low intelligence most people who you see in public swearing for all to hear are typically from a lower class background, are poorely educated, and seemingly mentally unbalanced as they are unable to express themselves in any other way than than rude outbursts.
Oh yeah and I have a Masters degree since you seem to be intent on playing the 'intelligence makes you correct' game.
