How about bringing Heavy Interdictors back into FW by giving them the ability to use tractors beams on those peek-a-boo station dockers that can be so frustrating. Perhaps the caveat could be that it requires a very long activation time, thus giving those who innocently undock plenty of time to get away.
If you must be critical, offer a your own alternative solution.

I like the idea of tractor beaming other ships, but there are too many ways you grief with that. Unless say they bring in a new module that is specifically for tractoring other ships in combat so that it would be treated as a weapon.
Of course though how would you do that? It's already pretty crazy watching a frigate tractor in a carrier wreck like it's an empty soda can. If you lock on with a little ship to a big ship, is it going to drag you to him? Seems like they'd have to add some physics into the game before this could be a viable weapon. What happens when two or more people lock on? Which way is the ship going to go?
As cool of an idea as it is, a simpler solution would be just to increase the exit speed by 4-5 times along with the redock timer so that ship s end up farther away from the station after undock and can't just hop in an out. Maybe they could just treat an undock like an acceleration gate and launch the ship 1000-1000km out from the station.

Maybe if tractor beams had a beam strength vs the propulsion strenth of the targeted ship.
I still think you shouldn't be able to dock for the full 15 minutes if you activate a module on someone else. If you take active part in a battle, why should you be able to run to mommy?

Both of those seem like decent ideas. The countdown idea probably fits in best with the current scheme of things. If someone returns fire, they should be treated as an aggressor as well, and prevented from docking for a while.
I suppose you could have a relative mass calculation, so that the power of the tractor beam is relative to the size of the ship, but I thought this function would probably be best limited to the Heavy Interdictor, because this helps strengthen its usefulness in FW, and then also prevents any issues with frigates towing carriers, which would be a little silly.

id simply like to see a new kind of aggression timer, clocked into docking, and possibly a few other things.
if you fire on someone, you get a pirate timer. while this timer is active, you cant dock. this applies even if you fire in defense. - PvPers always say "GB2WoW". the message is that EVE is hard, and people just need to deal with it. wasn't it funny how when nano's started making it hard for *them*, that all went out the window? |

Heavy interdictors are just too damm expensive for FW. 0.0 is where they see the most use.
Besides, as soon as someone sees that their ship is being locked, they will hit the dock button. Tractors won't solve that. -------------------------------------------------- If tomorrow technically doesn't exist until it happens, then doesn't that beg the askin if today didn't exist yesterday? |

Quite - why are all wrecks 28m, regardless of what size ship they came from? It's a bit silly. Mind so is a little drone webbing a battleship and reducing its speed by 80%.
