Just a question, does anyone else feel that the role of the blockade runner had been somewhat squelched by the introduction of the heavy dictor?
I propose the following change to Blockade Runners' special bonus
"immunity to Focused Warp Disruption"
Doing this, they would drop the +2 WCS so now, if they wanted to be immune to everything, they would have to dedicate low slots to it, thus decreasing their cargo space or their warp off time.
This would also stop heavy dictors from being the be all and end all of low sec gate camps.

Sigh.
Do you expect a Megathron to kill anything without any guns? How about a hulk to mine stuff without strip miners?
Then why do you expect a BR to run camps when not fit for it? A well-fit BR can warp too fast for the Hictor to lock, and even if he DOES catch you, you can burn away at 3 km/s with t2 resists.

i think he raises a valid point. ive long been of the opinion that the focused warp disruption script was way overpowered, and should only be activatable on cap ships. id support it keeping its +2 and gaining that immunity to focused warp as a bonus. - PvPers always say "GB2WoW". the message is that EVE is hard, and people just need to deal with it. wasn't it funny how when nano's started making it hard for *them*, that all went out the window? |

Does anybody else feel that way? Well, given the number of threads on it I keep seeing, I'd have to say that they do. That said, I certainly don't feel that way - you have a hyper-specialized ship, and it is good at its role. How exactly is this a problem? ------------------ Fix the forums! |

I would agree totally with the OP if the BR couldn't easily blow through any Hictor camp in lowsec.

with perfect skills, and completely rigged out, the Viator has a 2.7 second warp off time.
a triple sensor boosting Heavy Dictor can lock it in 1.9 seconds, after that, all you need is an interceptor and that BR is screwed.
not much of a blockade runner if it cant run a blockade of 2 is it?

Doesnt it make sense however that another "hyper-specialized ship" (the blockade runner) should be good at its role? Shouldnt a blockade runner be able to subvert the a blockade maker?

More accurately, I'd state that the hyper-specialized blockade runner should be on par with the hyper-specialized heavy interdictor. Even your example above basically states that the hictor pilot has 0.8 seconds to react to the blockade runner uncloaking. I'd say that puts pretty even odds on the runner making it through, OR getting caught. Seems balanced to me.

Edited by: Kahega Amielden on 18/09/2008 01:37:06 You also forgot to account for lag. If the client enters warp before the client gets the information that it's being warpscrammed, the BR wins.

except for the fact that the Heavy dictor can pre-activate the module . . . if you activate the module with nothing targeted and click on your own ship, the module flashes and the next thing you target automatically gets the module to the jaw.
basically, its the scorpion trick to catch interceptors.
not a skill thing, with the current game mechanics, Heavy dictors IE Blockade Makers > Blockade Runners
