Well not exactly, but here's what happened. I would be very interested to hear if it's happened to anyone else to help me with my petition.
1. I had global criminal in a stealth bomber with low armor and shield.
2. I docked up assuming I would warp to zero with agro. The ship warped to 2500m and I thought 'oh dear'
3. The ships computer says 'docking requested', I slow boated for a few seconds then I hear 'docking accepted'
4. As the station screen loads I hear the sound of evemail recieved and when it finishes loading I see a blinky wallet and evemail ... I've lost my ship at the last second right. I am also not even in a pod. The station view shows I'm in nothing at all. Game log shows...

5. I have a killmail in my log showing that I lost the stealth bomber to sentry fire. Crucially I have NO killmail showing the loss of a pod as well (nor anything in the game log)
6. 4 hours later I actually DO get podded (1st time ever in low sec in two years ... lag grmbl  )
7. I notice I have TWO 'so you died?' mails. The first from when I lost the stealth bomber 4 hours ago and the new one from when I got genuinely podded along with the fact that I have lost a mil SP from BS 5 ... 21 days training... because my clone was not up to date. This time there is a kill log to say I got podded but still nothing about the 'first' time.
So it seems the server thinks I lost my pod at the same time I lost my stealth bomber earlier that day, but didn't tell me about it. There were no hostiles outside the station at the time and I was too close for anyone to have been using a smart bomb and no game log of me loosing a pod.
TL;DR version. I lost a stealth bomber to sentry fire when docking and at the same time the server thinks I got podded and reset my clone grade to alpha without sending a killmail for the pod. I got properly podded on a gate later with my clone grade still at alpha and lost 1 mil skill points.
Am I alone?

This happened to me too, but it was in high sec with concord hot on my trail. My friend was sure that when fleeted you could shoot each other, even if your not in the same corp. I fired on him and saw that I had a global criminal timer, I was in a fast little frig and wanted to see how long I could outrun concord. Then I got the idea to try and dock, well I made it to the station at 0m, I saw that the sentry guns had locked me but the screen went black before they fired, when it finally loaded I was in a station 40 jumps away with no pod or ship, no message saying I died but I did get the kill mail for the ship. I petitioned it and CCP gave me back my full set of implants that I had lost. |

Thanks, that's encouraging. My clone was set in the same station I docked at so there's another reason I didn't realise I had lost my pod.

heh yeah I wasnt too happy to pop up in 0.0 in a station that I didnt have any ships in. |
