I'm enjoying is immensely. But it's too short. And the loading screens between menus are lame. What a great game though. The story is top notch and really ties the original episodes together with the *gag* prequels. But did I mention that the game is too short?

Will there be a PC version? I'm not a big star wars nut but this is a game I definitely would get if it came to PC.

They said explicitly that they won't do a PC version.
The quote ran something like, "We want everybody to have the same experience, and because a low-end computer won't give the same experience as a high-end computer, we won't publish it for the PC." Yet they publish it for the DS, PSP, PS2 and Wii. They certainly aren't getting the same experience. It's total rubbish. Justifies not buying the game in my book.
I truly hope this isn't the way most game developers are thinking, but with all the tard-velopers out there I wouldn't be surprised.

I quite liked it most of the time (especially slicing that walker in half, great view) but using of the force push/pull, whatever it's called, was too clumsy for me. Yeah, I'm probably clumsy myself and that isn't enhancing the experience or anything- I just can't fiddle with the controller to make my character do precicely what I want. Dunno how much experience is needed until I can say that I actually like console controllers.
So anyways, game looked fun but I sure couldn't grab and throw anything to save my life. Most of the time I grabbed something else and then just waddled it around aimlessly.
Question- does this game need the mastery of throwing things around in latter levels? and how hard is this game actually?

I wish that if they really had to give us 'yet another' SW game, it would've been Jedi Knight IV. JKII (Outcast) and III (Academy) were absolutely brilliant. With a GFX makeover I'd quite happily pick up a new sequel in that franchise. A 6 hr game w/o any multiplayer...methinks they're only giving us part of the game Definitely a renter this one.

will i be flame broiled for saying the original fable is much better than this game in giving the player the means to obliterate opponents?
i am an evil bastage at the root of my being and i would not even allow a stormtrooper the possibility of firing a shot without having 400x his mass heading his way ready to smash him like he was a proton in the LHC tube.

tried the demo... and was unsurprisingly completely underwhelmed.
controls sucked. target by facing with the movement stick, not by looking at them. you can kill a stormtrooper just by flinging him into the air. but to kill him with your lightsaber, it takes four or five strikes. W T H !

Playing it through atm (PS3 version). Enjoying it for the most part.
Bad Stuff: > Camera - it often picks some odd angles and doesn't sit behind your character as well as it should. You'd think that they'd have seen how it's done from the Jedi Knight series on PC. > A heck of a lot of combo's to remember. It's like Street Fighter 2, but with a lightsaber, in that regard.
Good Stuff: > Well written, well acted/voiced by the principals. Makes a whole lot more sense than massive chunks of the prequels (apart from how a robot manages to use the force but pfft). > An insane amount of ways to murderise people horribly, most of which are pretty intuitive. Want to throw your lightsabre into someone you're force choking in mid air? You can do it. Want to electrocute them while your lightsabre is still fizzing away in their insides? Go for it. Want to force push the smoking corpse into the ionosphere after all that? Rock and roll. > Going toe-to-toe with another sabre-user is exactly as hard as it should be. Try beating some of the bosses sabre-only for a challenge!
I love Star Wars full stop though so I'm massively biased. It's still fun to wade into a crowd of victims, throwing them all over the place while dancing through the remainder with some nicely animated sabre attacks!
And the bit with the Star Destroyer.....
That was ****ing cool. "I got soul but I'm not a soldier" |

Edited by: Delvardious Kaesos on 22/09/2008 07:56:55 I agree with a lot of what's being said in terms of problems. The camera view during some of the boss fights got incredibly annoying. It was way too short for my tastes. However on the bright side. It was a lot of fun to play. I enjoyed the storyline and it was really well written and it didn't really contradict canon. I enjoyed the main character and his approach to the force, and his general badassery. Touching on the Force, it really was deserving of the Force Unleashed as a title. Galen Marek really did unleash the Force and push it to it's very limits. Tossing stormtroopers, getting surrounded by Felucians and then Force Repulsing them all back was a blast. The boss fights against the Jedi were incredibly fun to play as was the button pressing finishers. I must say that this game had one of the best music scores of any Star Wars game. The end boss fights were incredibly epic as was the ending. And it was cool to see the origins of the Rebel Insignia.
All in all I was probably the best Star Wars game that has been released in a while. It beats out all the prequel games and was the best game released since KOTOR. It was a lot of fun to play. ---------------------------------------- Today's Empires, Tomorrow's Ashes.

More star wars related drivel. Its good feature. The strength of the force in it. (you can pull a star destroyer out of orbit with the force).
Is totally beyond ridiculous. FFS let star wars die for 10 years. then make a uber mmog of some type.

It was decent, rather over the top but playable. I usually can't handle the games as they're too soft compared to the actual storyline, but this one wasn't bad.
And I'm a huge Star Wars geek, Admiral Pellaeon was rather well known. ________

This game is a living example of why you need to TEST software before releasing it.
I foolishly purchased the game, and found not only was I constantly confronted by bugs that SHOULD NOT exist in any sort of production game (let alone a console game, where updates are usually an impossibility).
I can't say the poor quality, nor the frequent bugs surprised me. How long has it been since Lucasarts has been able to release a good game? Something around the tune of a decade?

I am a huge Star Wars fan. But I wasn't too thrilled with the idea of this game besides the storyline. For one, it's console-only (I own a PS3 but only watch blu-rays because frankly, consoles suck for games compared to PC). Two, I have played all of the Jedi Knight games and this didn't look anywhere near as good. Maybe the graphics are better, but the gameplay is contrived and cliched. Most of the stuff you see in the game has been done before in the Jedi Knight series.
And ffs, can we please get rid of this "emo-kid" slouch please? It's such a poser stance. I hate posers as much as cliches. Assassin's Creed had the same thing. It's like everyone is using the same template and just switching the textures around to make it look original.
And what they REALLY meant when they said that about not making a PC version was this: "We didn't make a multiplayer element for the game and we know if we release it to the PC it will get pirated". That's the REAL reason and anyone with half the IQ of a ******ed monkey could see that. Has NOTHING to do with the hardware of the PC...
I mean, the only reason I bought Crysis Warhead on Steam was because it actually has fun multiplayer. If the PC game developers made a huge effort to give their games multiplayer content then their games would not get pirated so much. I mean who want's to spend $50 on a game that will only last 8 hours. 90% of the games that I buy has multiplayer content. If it's on the PC, then it must have MP or it will be pirated to hell and back.

Because back in 2002 when Jedi Knight was released it was possible to have the things the Force Unleashed has such as bendable enviroments. You could only manipulate the NPC's with the Force and a few choice objects with pull/push. Even though I like Kyle Katarn and Jedi Knight, I would say the Jedi Knight series was almost the same in terms of the emo cliche. His dad has been killed, all he wants is revenge against the person who did it. It's the same idea with a different take on it. Same with Jedi Outcast, he wants revenge against Desann for "killing" Jan Ors. ---------------------------------------- Today's Empires, Tomorrow's Ashes.

I thought the plot was good, a surprisingly sad beginning [shit . . . Vader just went beyond the evil phase and into the downright-satan-incarnate phase] and either a very fulfilling canon plot or a really twisted dark side ending that made me wince. I personally really like/liked the gameplay, but I'm fine with console or PC gameplay styles. Yes it's perhaps a bit acrobatic for some people, but I personally think they carried it off well.
I think it's very much a case of love it or hate it. I love it

Whati didn't like : No multiplayer what so ever, would of been nice to have some co op or multiplayer on the xbox360 and xbl. Far to short far to short FAR TO SHORT!.
Overall i liked it but did i mention it was FAR TO SHORT!

So anyone from the UK who pre ordered it from game have relised the special codes they gave us didn't work as intended (the game saw them as a cheat).
So basicly i got these email's from them saying they would get in contact with the maker's to see if something can be done to make the codes work.
Well i got another email today from them so here it is -
Dear Customer,
Thank you for preordering your copy of the Star Wars: The Force Unleashed from GAME.co.uk
As promised in our previous communication we have been in contact with the publisher of Star Wars: The Force Unleashed in regards to resolving the game save issues that some users were experiencing once they had redeemed their preorder codes.
Unfortunately the publisher has now advised us that it will not be possible to resolve the issues with the 2 codes that we have already sent. However fear not! û They have instead provided you with an exclusive comprehensive costume mastercode!
Contained within The Force Unleashed there are 32 separate costumes, across over a dozen separate characters, each with their individual codes, which LucasArts have secretly built in.
This exclusive mastercode will allow you to unlock all 32 costumes so you can customise your experiance as often as you like. Choose whether to unleash the force as any character from the Emperor to Senator Bail Organal.
Complete 32 costume unlock master code : SOHNDANN
So enjoy ppl if you haven't got this code already.
