CCP said no more special ships like that since people just sell them for ridiculous amounts of isk, instead of using or keeping them. So, CCP felt there was no reason to basically hand the winner of the tourneys 50-100 billion isk. They wanted tpeople to use or keep the ships themselves, not just sell off to the highest bidder.

CCP has the stupidest ways of fixing things, tbh. Just like removing shuttles from NPC markets instead of making them un-refinable. _

they shud give me a state issue raven then, i'd be using it all the time.
Put it on LP store at like a million LPs and a navy raven with the nexus chip in it, its still expensive but it'll help reduce the costs of them

1 million LP isn't that much. But on the other hand, if it couldn't be sold or traded, it would not need to be insanely high.

There's a way to make 1 million LP become very hard to get. Factional Warfare Missions. Put the special ships in the FW LP Store ONLY, to reduce the chance some farmer is going to cash in once a week. I made a thread about this in the F&I section a while ago. Here's the Linky...

i like it. not only will make FW more interesting, it'll bring farmers in to places where we can hunt them easily.

also remmeber when FW was announced CCP mentioned that by gaining enuff rank and rewards with a specific race then there would be great rewards?
Well isnt it also a coincidence that the FW militias are all named after the event ships "military"
State issue Raven - state Protectorate (or summat)
Imperial Geddon/Apoc - Imperial guard ect ect

It's nothing new, really. If you know the basic information about the 4 races, you will know that Amarr is an Empire, Caldari a State, Gallente is a Federation and the Minmatar are several Tribes that has come together.

They already are. It's still possible to contract rookie ships, though, and even if you disallow entering them into any type of contract (along with direct trading) there's still the option used for selling supercaps, involving the seller ejecting from the ship at a POS and the buyer sending funds to a trusted third party. Even if you require a unique skill for piloting the ship, people can still scoop it into a carrier.

Even if you introduced these at TEN million LPs, you'd be kiboshing the uniqueness of these ships.
If CCP wanted to keep adding these ships to the game, a better idea might be having some kind of event that does something to alter the game universe every couple of years or so, and which is based on the result of player actions. This activity would be RP based to some extent, but would be open to everyone, and would have long-lasting effects on the game world itself. One or two people who best exemplified the spirit of the event would be awarded the highest tier vessel from their parent Empire (Imperial Apoc, Tribal Tempest, Federate Mega, or State Raven.) Or introduce some new things. Tribal Maelstrom would be sex. Or an Imperial Archon
It'll never get used anywhere close to someone else who's got fitted guns anyway. edit: actually on that last note, the Imperial Apoc was actually killed in an Alliance Tournament.

Why do you think removing shuttles from the NPC markets was stupid? It was really the only solution which made any sense, if you ask me. They simply moved it in line with every other ship in EVE. Any other solution would have been bizarre, if you ask me.
As far as "unsellable", there is no such thing in EVE. Even if they can't be put on markets, and even if they can't be contracted, they can still be sold. How do you think titans and motherships are sold? In fact, you don't even need to do it that way... you can just do a direct trade.
Players who received those unique ships were abusing CCP's intent, so CCP stopped distributing unique ships. Considering all of the work that must have been involved in creating the entries and artwork for something intended for only a single person, it makes a lot of sense to me to simply stop doing it.

Make them un-refinable, but it doesn't matter, now people either go around in pods or light frigs.

I neither sell or make those abominations, so I didn't really think about it. Every time a cap ship is made, you aid communism.

What region is this? Outside of the mostly Low Sec regions like the Bleaks you can find a shuttle for less than 20k ISK in every system with a station, almost without exception. Often you can get them for half that. I see people in shuttles all the time, because they're safer than pods and faster than the fastest T1 frig on autopilot.

If I remember correct it was suggested by a dev at a dev brain storm meeting, which lead to the mentioned dev to seek cover under the table for items being thrown his way. Or something like that

i agree event ships are overpowered value wise but those with unique hulls need to have a 'regular' edition that can at least somewhat revel in the unique ships presence.

The people that came up with these ideas don't work for CCP anymore. And the people at CCP now... just don't care.
Although, if you were a member of a 0.0 alliance and could make a convincing argument why these ships could swing things your way and make good community videos, then I'm sure someone at CCP might raise an eyebrow from their herring sandwich.

Take a Executioner, fit a named Overdrive and a AB on it - and tell me that "a shuttle is faster than any t1 frig" :)
565 normal, 1245 on AB - I call mine the "Supershuttle" :)

True, but how are you burning on AP? If you're going to manually fly you're STILL better off with a shuttle because it's cheaper than a fitted frig and it aligns virtually instantly.

Edited by: Pr1ncess Alia on 20/09/2008 09:19:21 how about we get the opportunity to get some of these ships through the LP stores?
really, what is the point of ships so rare that only .000001% of the population will ever actually SEE them, and they just sit in hangars as (nearly) no one will fly them.
then there are those that did fly them, and they blow up and are gone forever
just doesn't make any sense... well except for the few ppl out of tens of thousands that get to own them.
lots of up play this game. many of us for years and years. would be nice to have the opportunity to get our hands on some of these ships
