This maybe the most asked question among the players - why EVE can not be faster and easier - basic training speed would be shorter for example and ISK buying from CCP would be cheaper? I know that game developers like to hold people as customers, but I see also that making EVE easier and more better working in player view, it make this game more intresting to new players...
This game would be better if you dont have to do everything "by the book"...
I also like to give a challenge to developers to make actual decision - are those like 10 000 veteran players more important than 100 000 new players if game come more faster and less time taking???

People should just respect peoples opinions on this forum for once, even if its a terribl, terrible idea like this one, atleast give a constructive answer instead of screaming troll at the OP.
Anyhow, OP, if CCP did this, they wouldn't make as much money. The game is a slow building game, the slower skill training means people spend more time playing the game which equals more cash for CCP since the players will need to update their subs more. ----------------------------

Edited by: McFly on 20/09/2008 11:55:58 Those 10,000 players have been quite happy with this game as it has developed and veteran or not, those are loyal customers who have paid/earned their right to be veteran pilots in Eve. And dont even start on the T2 BPO/SP bull crap everything in eve is situational, the nubbins I recruit can pop me if they have the right ship when I have the wrong one. And as for T2 BPOs, I never got one, and I had research agents hoping for the lottery...
Eve is a dark, unforgiving and long term game, CCP I think has done a great job with it in terms of keeping players entertained. There is always something else to train and something else to learn.
If you played a game my wife does and rhymes with POW, you can be maxed out on a character in a couple months, that doesn't sound like fun to me, I like the fact that after 5 years I'm still just getting into things that I've never tried before.
Just my 0.02 isk, but I think I've made a valid point.

I'll take a stab at answering this.
Eve has no classes. Instead of classes you have the training system which imposes an opportunity cost (time) on various specializations that you're free to mix, match, and come up with all on your own.
From my observations and back-of-the-envelope calculations, the overwhelming majority of pilots in Eve have fewer than 8 million SPs in use at any given time (no, I'm not counting prereqs if they don't actually contribute to what's being used). Having more SPs means you can do more things and fulfill more roles, though not at the same time.
Eve is much more about player knowledge, skills, and know-how than anything you'll see on your character sheet. ---

why the hell am i even replying to this? Well in case this is an actual thread instead of a troll...
You don't need to buy isk from CCP, buy a GTC from CCP then trade it with another player. Your cash for isk problem is solved.
Faster skill training times? Eh you new guys already got buffed before even looking at the eve logo for the first time in your life. You already start out with more SP then I and others did. CCP HAS made it faster for new players to get into the game, especially with the change to the 2nd tier of learning skills. No longer do players need to wait a week or more for level 5, just hit 4 and move onto the next level. Faster training times, you already got it before you arrived.
SO the question to your answers is, CCP has already been there, done that, you just didn't know.
Look up set ups for frigates on one of the fan sites in the "community" section to your left. Get a few put together then look for a Faction warfare corp and find a group running a fleet and work as a tackler. Not as good as an interceptor but fast lock on times +warpscram+web = better then nothing and i say that in a good way.
Its an mmo, start talking to people and youll find that you move up in the world faster then on your own. Some might give you excesss gear, ammo, frigates, some will toss a few isk your way. others might show you how to mine or do missions effectively. Just a lot more players you get to know can do then soloing the game.

Edited by: Sheriff Jones on 20/09/2008 12:25:09 It is rather fast, but you have to remember that this game is not about levels or skills as much as the "world you fly in".
Even if skills matter, yes, but interactig with the world doesn't take skills.
For example:
You start with a frigate, you start learning cruiser skills(and needed stuff), or you start going a different route, in any case, WHILE you're training, you gather the needed ISK and knowledge of the world to step into that cruiser(whatever) when the time comes that your training is complete.
If one looks at training times and the time needed to gather isk, it's quite toe to toe.

If you're that eager to get to the 'end' of Eve then
a) buy enough GTC's b) sell them for isk c) buy a trained char with that is d) check that it can fly the titan e) ...
now you've reached the end of eve and can be bored for months.

LOLs at the guy "respecting opinion".
You were trolled with 99.99% certainty.
If you think corp is different than a guild or clan you have some insecurity issues.

Okey - First, I am not a troll. Second - I am training as fast I can and level up my second character because this one dont fit to my needs well, it's only for forums. Third, one of my learning methods to understand is throw these kind of subjects to talk about it. Some may agree or deny, it depends...
I have played this game 11 months, and still I would have agreed faster skill training to new players with the cost of losed time and opportunities for older players, just my opinnion. What I also know about the business that group of loyal customers are not the key to success, corporation business can not be based on loyal customers, only - it is a sad illusion...
Finally, I would like to thank you for your answers, some of you have given light to dark tunnel...

By definition every person that you will receive an answer from was not deterred by training times. You might get a different reply on a forum which doesn't require an active EvE account to post on.

No. But the overriding philosophy that this game should be a cold, harsh universe, and unique in that regard amongst MMO's, is more important than every player, new or old.
