I was sitting peacefully in my ship, sipping my coffee, when my good friends who run the EVE Cemetery informed me that Goonswarm has gone to war against them. Even now a couple of their battleships are pounding away at this New Eden iconĘs shields in order to destroy it.
The EVE Cemetery is a monument to those fallen in battle. A place where one can go and say those final words they would like to the fallen, and even though we are in a clone-age, where one really doesnĘt die, the bodies entombed around the cemetery are both a reminder and warning about our own mortality.
I urge those who believe in the continuance of this site to lend aid where they can in order to stop this travesty from occurring.
My thanks

It seems that the goons are out to personally insult every pilot in the galaxy... even the dead ones, in this case. I do hope it survives though, as some things should be left untouched by the ravages of war. ----------------------------------------------

Someone must have told them about the Molle corpse in there.
It's a shame but some people revel in wanton destruction and there are a lot of them in Goonswarm. If they're determined to destroy it then it's probably already doomed.

Edited by: Stitcher on 22/09/2008 02:32:28 The only appropriate response: cover your eyes, look toward the ground, shake your head slowly and sadly.
If anybody ever figures out how to fathom the motives that drive that pack of demented monkeys, they're probably a candidate for membership themselves.
As sad as it is, I fear there's not much can be done. When the swarm descends, the best thing to do is get out of the way. My recommendation to the owners would be to disinter their charges and get them out of harm's way aboard a blockade runner or something. Being racked up in a station hangar perhaps isn't quite as dignified as the body's former owner would like, but it's still better than being smeared across a cubic AU of space on the whim of a horde of madmen. -

Mr. Stitcher, I feel you are giving the goons to much credit by calling them madmen. I feel a more appropriate term needs to be found. I do give them, or their leader, credit for holding the whole whatnot together but they for the most part give most capsuleers bad names.
Now I am sure there are some good goonies out there somewhere but most seem like teenagers who were given pod pilot licenses.

They are a reflection of the dull era of entropy we live in.
Had they lived on Monaazereyeh's time, i'm sure they would break in the great poet's studio, steal his masterpieces and then feed it to the fire, while laughing at it.
It's far easier to destroy and grief, and laugh over someone's misery, than to create something of worth and beauty.
I hope this symbol of peace and contemplation survives this ordeal and, if failing to be preserved as it is today, returns to its former significance in later, more enlightened times.

<Comms go live, showing the images of the destroyed EVE Cemetery Tower. A list of names of Goonswarm and its allies runs down the left side of the screen>
My fellow New Eden citizens, lend me your comm signals. Today is a dark day, for today we see the death and destruction that violent, uncontrolled malcontents can wreak upon our humble selves.
The EVE Cemetery was a harmless and benign structure, placed there to help honor the fallen. Many great names were entombed there, thier frozen bodies kept in vigil for those they wanted to come and see them, perhaps to offer a prayer, or maybe to even be reminded of their own mortality and though we of the clone-age cannot technically die, death can still affect us all.
Goonswarm claimed that they sent word of their impending war-dec in order to make sure those selfless and dedicated personnel onboard the EVE Cemetery Tower would be prepared. A lie. No such message was ever sent, a typical example of the Goonswarm mentality, that which there is.
Goonswarm stated that the reason for their war-dec was because the EVE Cemetery was causing problems for local navigation. Considering its location in a high-sec system without any Empire stations and only a few belts for miners to visit, one cannot help but wonder what navigation problems Goonswarm was thinking of.
Goonswarm claimed that the attack was all a big misunderstanding. Another lie considering today’s actions.
Goonswarm claimed that the attackers were removed from their Alliance. Truth, but probably only as long as it takes to put them back in later this week, as at this point, the TunkbwahCorp is still a Goonswarm recruitment corp.
Goonswarm destroyed the EVE Cemetery Tower this morning and laughed about it, because it is obvious that Goonswarm believes that wanton terrorist like actions on undefended and benign targets is funny.
Anahid Brutus of TunkbwahCorp is the primary agitator of this offense to New Eden, though all of Goonswarm is guilty due their treacherous actions in destroying the Tower after claiming they didn’t mean to war-dec it.
Let the record show that the following are those that did commit this offensive terrorist attack, and let New Eden judge them as the low-lives they are.

In this place of New Eden, out of the thousands who reside here, only two arrived to defend your sacred place. They were quickly and respectfuly returned to the gods from whence they came.
If this place really meant something, you would have come to defend it. Alas you did not.

It was a very sacred and important place. So sacred and important that only two people tried to defend it.
If half the people that posted about their dismay and disgust actually defended it... well, it would still have been blown up, but at least that would've skimmed the oily sheen from their hypocrisy.

The tower is gone, but... well, it was the tower. What makes the cemetery, the graves, are still under the stalwart protection of CONCORD, praise be the Sisters.
I never quite agreed to Azia's defense strategy, maybe this time she will implement a more clever and elegant solution.

My point is, out of all the people who screamed bloody murder over the whole thing, only 2 people came to defend your sacred ground.
And as Havohej said, as capsuleers our bodies mean nothing. This is why the men and women of Goonfleet will return again and again until we get a mission accomplished. Our bodies mean nothing, you need to destroy the mind to stop us.
Anyway, I shall try to leave it at that.

I will not debate wether or not a capsuleers death is insignificant or not. But what the graveyard represents, wether the capsuleers interred there live on or not, is loss and sacrifice. They probably lost more than just their clone. They lost their ship, crew, and possibly much more (or less). Corpses are corpses, capsuleer or joe avarage, they don't matter to the original owner. (actually they might be more important to the capsuleer than the dead guy) But a graveyard is a place to honour sacrifice, and cope with loss. Wether the corpses in them are capsuleers or not, it's not just a biomass storage. But I guess it's hard not to lose humanity as 'immortal' beings.
Peace, -ChT Biko

Vandalism equated to terrorism? Are you serious?
If you're going to take public swipes at CVA, you should at least be aware that our current slap bouts occur mostly with Against All Authorities, a stubborn contingent of Atlas pilots, and lately a seemingly increasing number of Goonswarm patrols as well.
And the Goonies here hit the nail on the head, to be honest. For all the outcry, "two" pilots showed up to defend the tower.
Here's a little trivia for you: it was a CVA pilot. He got fried twice. Ain't that somethin', in light of all this noise (and vague insults towards the CVA)?

Opens a video-comlink to all, alliances and enemies of Goonswarm.
It is with much glory I come before you all.
We did not stop with just destroying the cemetary, oh no, we were able to take it a step further. We were able to do the unexpected.
In the early days some might have called it "graverobbing". One might say it was a failure of the owner to not think of a decent password to put on the graves surrounding the once great Cemetary Station.
It was found out by sheers guesswork. 5 tries is all it took.
We have your corpses, and if you want them back there WILL be a ransom to pay. We got as many as we could, but it appears the most worthy have already been taken by the gods. 44 corpses in all sit in a secret location soon to be given to an unnamed person for transporting safely to wherever we wish.
The full details will be up shortly.

Try and be reasonable. This attack took place in High Sec, meaning that if anyone had tried to fight the goons in an attempt to keep them from destroying it, then the DED would have shown up and obliterated them. Defending that starbase effectively would have involved: A) Declaring war on the goons, B) Waiting twenty-four hours for CONCORD to authorize the war, C) Deploying enough of a force to hold out against the notorious swarm of bees.
Even had any of us acted immediately and decisively to try and defend the graveyard, the CONCORD paperwork wouldn't even have had time to clear. It was destroyed too quickly for any capsuleer aid to have had the faintest hope of mobilizing in time.
A clear example of why it is so very necessary to ensure that your starbase has an emergency reserve of Strontium Clathrates. Not that a graveyard should ever have any reason to assume that it's going to come under attack. -

just consider this: you don't have to declare war and wait 24 hours to help defend it, just repair it. if you repair it you may be shot by the attackers, if the attackers shoot you you may shoot back, if you die with your repair ship you can get your destroyer and attack them further, concord will not interfere. so next time you might come to defend something you consider worth something.

Goonswarm expects too much. Most of the capsuleers here could care less about your latest scream for attention. Many see your lack of respect to the dead as very distasteful. Your aim to **** and pillage a cemetery full of already dead people doesn't provoke me to feed the fire and sacrifice the current lives of my crew for the condemned defense of a monument.
Quite frankly, the capsuleers of EVE have more pressing matters (like a war that's engulfing and killing millions of our own, which deserves much more attention than your group of petty thugs).
