I mean, it's obvious, really. BOB and other big alliances will just send 500 (or however many) people to a system they want to take, and the defenders won't even be able to jump in, leaving the attacker to blow the cyno jammer and POSes in peace.
Is it just me, or does this whole idea seem a bit ill-considered?

Player system limit since when? this just a rumor or am I completely lost again?

you won't blow shit if the non-reinforced node drops your whole fleet when you try to reach the player limit. it's somewhere around 1000, not 500. Try to do anything with so many people in one system. Good luck. IBTL.

I doubt even the goons could muster an 800 man fleet and keep it going for long. The massive lag bomb alone would de-sync and disconnect alot of them. Even if they did, there would be nothing a defender could do against such numbers.

the node will come crashing down fairly sooner if you try to do any shooting with 800 and more people. theoretical you could try to lock a system with alts and do the actual shooting just with a few dozen chars. but that would be an exploit of game mechanics which is banable

good, you should not be able to hold a system unless you can keep a fleet in there at all times to defend it. this will open up large parts of 0.0 as corps and alliances will have to retreat back to their most profitable system or systems and dig in.
what they should have done all along. gate system makes it possible to claim and hold space beyond what you are actually capable of holding.

Actualy if you read what CCP have said and look at the facts we have then you will see that this will only impact jita. 0.0 remains unchanged with this cap simply because you cant do anything with 800 in a system anyway.

and that is punishable by ban. i so hope some 0.0 alliances try that and loose a good portion of their membership.
for clarification: i can t speak for ccp, devs or gms so i can t say with total authority if that is an exploit. but if yourself are labelling it like this... ... seriously guys, something like this is totally not worth debating. if you can actually round up the numbers (800 to 1000 from what i heard) you will already create enough lag to make the hamsters cringe and probably won t have a too serious opposition either. two 800 man fleets? anyone? and still if you purposefully lock down a system with pure numbers to exploit this limit to gain an advatage i really doubt gms will stand by idle.

tbh if there's no one in a system then you prob dont need to bother trying to close it with numbers - you can almost certainly achieve the same result with fewer ships / players.
