Hi
am very puzzeld. Problem: my eveclient on the laptop cant connect. it keeps saying "server status unknown." and "connection closed" when i try to login anyway. the laptop in question is a EeePC 901.
setup: Interwebs -> router -> my pc. - works fine, can connect.
Interwebs -> router -> wifi -> laptop - cant connect Interwebs -> router -> cable -> laptop cant connect Interwebs -> 3G mobile broadband -> laptop - cant connect.
wtf?
i have disabeld the firewall, makes no diffrence, also, with activated logfile, it doesnt log any dropped packets to/from eve. no, i dont have norton antivirus blala. i have xp SP3 on both laptop and pc.
to ilustrate, i unplug cable from PC (which can connect to eve) and plug it in laptop which cannot connect to eve.
does anyone have any clues?
things i tried: - diffrent port. ->status unknown - with and without firewall ->status unknown - added eve port to FW in addition to 'exefile.exe' in fw-exceptions ->status unknown - fresh install ->status unknown - copied install from pc (where it works) ->status unknown - changed MTU on laptop. ->status unknown - tried girfriends laptop over wifi. works fine. - diffrent cable. ->status unknown
anyone have some ideas what could be going wrong here? Its starting to annoy me. everyPC in the house can connect to eve through my router, just the eeepc cant.

Edited by: Elias Modron on 23/09/2008 17:45:39 I seem to be having the same problem. On my PC, all my websites load up just fine and I can quite happily play Call of Duty 4 online.
EVE Online however, is stuck at "Status: Unknown". I can't log into my alliance ventrilo server either (the server is there, but it won't connect) and Steam is timing out when it tries to connect as well. I having to post this from my laptop, when I try to log into these forums from me PCthe page comes back with "Network Timeout".

Same problem here, Status: unknown.
Yesterday and today as well.
I tried to change port in prefs.ini to 3724 but it didn't help.

Here too... first time i try it through this LAN net. I though it was due to some settings but seems not, since for example peer to peer is not allowed. But if ohters got the same problem I might hope that it might work... soon or later.

It's not really the same, because those who are getting random disconects are actually able to log in to be disconnected afterwards

i see your point, but still. its at least not random, as its completly reproducable :P
i even logged the network traffic with wireshark, and it DOES send and recieve packets to and from TQ. its completly baffling.
another interesting point is, that there are people running eve on the very same hardware (eg eeepc 901) and as i can connect from a desktop PC using the same router and internet connection, it prety much only leaves the OS as a source of the problem. especialy since i can rule out a faulty network card (tried wifi/cable and a USB 3g stick).
does anyone know which windows services might be required to run eve? maybe something which is not neccessaryli preinstalled? (allthough, in that case i would not understand why it should run on other eeepcs out of the box.

Edited by: narkil on 25/09/2008 13:52:34 I had the very same problem yesterday for about 11 hours about 30 minutes after the server came back up after the downtime.
Everything but eve and the homepage was working in the meantime so i was a bit clueless... even evemon said server status unknown
worst thing was that i missed out on 10 hours of training

mm now i wonder if the problem I'm having connecting to EVE is due to my connection here or otherwise.... (never connected before from here).
