In the process, they've now set a precedent for out of game actions to receive in game penalties, thrown away over 1/6 of the CSM votes, and proven the best way to influence what they do is through overblown manipulation of the gaming media. The Mittani did not decline to serve on CSM7, just the chair, the implications of the devblog that this is at all voluntary on his part are a complete fabrication that does not speak well to the professionalism behind this decision, and reinforces that this is a complete PR move.
So where's our re-vote? The CSM7 election results have now been completely invalidated before they even took effect, and if the gaming media doesn't pick up on THAT bit of strangeness they don't care about what's going on at all. If player opinion is to be taken into account at all we need to have another election.
Furthermore, they've just invited a rather vocal group of their playerbase to openly speak out against them on any and every subject available while they're clearly worried about their public image. One has to wonder how that's going to turn out for them, as now really wasn't the critical time for the gaming media to be talking about Dust - much closer to release is. Word of mouth from the beta is likely to carry a lot more weight than the gaming media will at all, especially with a relatively unknown (completely unknown in the console market) developer like CCP, and they've just soured a significant portion of the playerbase to how they operate right before that opens. Removing The Mittani from CSM7 completely while hiding behind implications that this is due to him resigning from CSM 6 when that didn't even happen makes it perfectly clear that CCP doesn't really give a **** about the momentum they've built up headed in a positive direction.
Edit: and CCP allowed the slides for the national anthem singing ransoms to include character names, so so much for them keeping victim names out of the slides for the alliance panel.
