So the marketing people in CCP have decided that this is a big threat to them and have decided to cave to a vocal few who continued to blow this up out of proportion. In the process, they've now set a precedent for out of game actions to receive in game penalties, thrown away over 1/6 of the CSM votes, and proven the best way to influence what they do is through overblown manipulation of the gaming media. The Mittani did not decline to serve on CSM7, just the chair, the implications of the devblog that this is at all voluntary on his part are a complete fabrication that does not speak well to the professionalism behind this decision, and reinforces that this is a complete PR move.
So where's our re-vote? The CSM7 election results have now been completely invalidated before they even took effect, and if the gaming media doesn't pick up on THAT bit of strangeness they don't care about what's going on at all. If player opinion is to be taken into account at all we need to have another election.
Furthermore, they've just invited a rather vocal group of their playerbase to openly speak out against them on any and every subject available while they're clearly worried about their public image. One has to wonder how that's going to turn out for them, as now really wasn't the critical time for the gaming media to be talking about Dust - much closer to release is. Word of mouth from the beta is likely to carry a lot more weight than the gaming media will at all, especially with a relatively unknown (completely unknown in the console market) developer like CCP, and they've just soured a significant portion of the playerbase to how they operate right before that opens. Removing The Mittani from CSM7 completely while hiding behind implications that this is due to him resigning from CSM 6 when that didn't even happen makes it perfectly clear that CCP doesn't really give a **** about the momentum they've built up headed in a positive direction.
Edit: and CCP allowed the slides for the national anthem singing ransoms to include character names, so so much for them keeping victim names out of the slides for the alliance panel. |

As you are honestly one of the few Goons posters who has written a coherent post, I will respond to this in the same way.
The problem is that Mittens was already elected. He was nominated and elected by 10,000 people, which admittedly is a large percentage of the cast votes. No one is denying that. However, after voting had closed is when he decided to be an idiot. You can't say, "My vote was cast and you accepted it, then removed the guy I voted for because he was an idiot and became a liability for you! I want to vote again!" It doesn't work like that.
I think the big thing people are completely ignoring is that Monoclegate was also bad press for CCP, and that happened nine months ago. When internet gaming publications are posting about something like this occurring at their Fanfest, it opens old wounds. And it doesn't just cut the seal: it rips off the scab, pours lemon juice and salt into the gaping wound, then finishes be poking at it with something sharp.
CCP is covering it's ass. That's why it's happening. |

The entire CSM7 election has been rendered completely illegitimate and is a farce. The idea of a major candidate being declared invalid without another vote being held wouldn't pass the smell test in Gautemala, let alone here.

Nixon didn't go on November 3rd, for a DWI.
But if we're going to talk about impeachments, hey, by all means. Let's hear CCP show some transparency about how they decided to remove The Mittani.
I'm sure it would be very enlightening. |

Except they did this after it was already cooling off. Which means that they're probably still completely ******* incompetent at PR even after Monoclegate and realizing that was a problem, and were too stupid to take stock of what had already gone on today before announcing anything - from all signs, they never talked to the CSM at all, it seems this was news to the entire CSM just as it was to the rest of us. The other alternative is that they caved to pressure from Sony due to Sony being concerned about Dust and either couldn't or wouldn't make a decision independent of that. This is the far worse alternative, as it's a very bad sign for how Sony will respond to the first big scams in Dust, and it would mean CCP was prioritizing games that haven't been released yet over their paying subscribers AGAIN. We may see which it is when Jita burns.
In either case, they worded their devblogs extremely passively instead of coming out and stating that they had decided to kick The Mittani off the CSM over this, which is what they did, and they set several bad precedents in the process on top of removing the CSM chair that made the CSM at all effective (and a force that helped CCP turn things around after Monaclegate) from the CSM over something that wasn't all that out of line with the general tone of this and past Alliance Panels - it was a terrible and completely unfunny thing to say as a joke, but that really hasn't been uncommon there. At the very least they need to work on getting the weasel talk out of their announcements since that's reminiscent of crap they pulled during Monaclegate and didn't go over well then either. This was not at all helped by finding their head of marketing's name at the bottom of one of the devblogs - marketing had no place in a decision like this if this was really at all about enforcing rules, and that's a pretty blatant sign that that wasn't their focus. |

No it has not.
There is no reason for a revote.
You were not disfranchised you got to vote.
Your boy blew it for you.
Take it up with him. He is the one the thew away your votes not ccp.
Alternates exist or a reason.
Mittens made himself illegitimate to be on the CSM no one else. Space wizards are real, they can make 10058 votes vanish. "and for a moment i hurd 10k goons cry out, then silence"-á |
