I'm sure many of the older players will not like this idea. And will argue that its all about a watching closely and multi-tasking.
[IDEA] Its simple. Users having the ability to set a siren to sound when ship damage gets to an undesirable amount. Ie. hull damage greater than 90% or armor damage at 20%. This alarm would be set by the user since we all tank differently.
[PURPOSE] To make you really start worrying! And when you're constantly watching for drone and turret damage, it can get a bit nerve-racking.
Feedback plz. I would love to hear your criticisms.
Thanks, -Zoloft Rx-

actually, i support this. recently, since the last patch, when someone starts attacking you and you have the game minimized, you cant hear them start attacking any more. so you maximise back a few minutes later to find you got ganked mid-AP or mind-mining cycle, and you didnt even realise.
as long as this siren is audible when the game is minimized, i would very much appreciate this feature. - PvPers always say "GB2WoW". the message is that EVE is hard, and people just need to deal with it. wasn't it funny how when nano's started making it hard for *them*, that all went out the window? |

Edited by: Ghost hunter on 25/09/2008 07:43:22 I almost raged but what it was proposed to affect was different so
In theory, I like this idea if only for the fact it would seem really cute. Practically speaking though, that requires EVE to have sound.
.
Ok being serious. It would require EVE's ingame sound to be on and I have not played with it in years. The sounds are just terrible and in pvp situations it just turns into grabbled noise. I'd much rather have metal or ESOD playing compared to the chalk-board screeching sounds of my mega pulses.
Who knows, it might be nice for the people who play with sound - I can't see any real upside to having it though. ______

i don't know.
you're supposed to play the game, not set your drones to attack and go AFK (or minimize the window).
if you minimize it, you did it on purpose, so you've to live with the consequences. It's like using the autopilot to fly throught low-sec.
anyways. it's actually a nice idea, but taking a bit care about your ship would be a nice workaround

you dont mine much, do you?
its fairly stnadard practice when mining to set your strips then go flame on the eve forums or whaever. its nto really AFK, you ar eright there.
as i said, previously when someone attacked you, it was audible, you just flipped back. because that's not the case, its now impossible to do that with covvies and retties in .7 and below space, as you cant perma-tank them, and the rats will vaporize you with total silence.
maybe it isn't playing the game true to the spirit, but the spirit gets really bored when its forced to watch the miners cycle for hours on end. i shouldn't have to buy a second monitor just so i can do what every miner has been doing for years. - PvPers always say "GB2WoW". the message is that EVE is hard, and people just need to deal with it. wasn't it funny how when nano's started making it hard for *them*, that all went out the window? |

just out of curiousity, why are you doing something that is boring you?
anyways back to the topic.
alot of ppl that eve has crappy sound and it would only be a easy thing to add this. Would make eve way more attractive soundwise

First off, if you don't use sound, it probably wouldn't bother if the feature was included.
Also, perhaps there could be not only a sound, but something like a transparent red hue flashing on the screen.
My idea was never to allow people to go AFK. Its more of a multi-tasking tool to help when you're watching your drones' damage, your weapons damage, your fleet's damage, AND your own.
Something to add a bit of panic
just a thought.

I like the idea.
Who ever heard of a ship without warning alarms?!
And who ever heard of a sci-fi space ship what didnt have some computer voice verbaly projecting warnings such as "Shield level critical".

I like this idea, especially if it can have a separate sound level from normal UI sounds, like the music does now.
Come on, EVERY sci-fi show/movie has its claxons. I'd love to see a whole set with customizable sounds.
Wouldn't it be really cool to hear the Star Trek red alert when you enter battle and the Stargate SG-1 incoming wormhole alarm when a nearby jumpgate activates?!
This would TOTALLY ROCK!
