You would think that a transport hauling military weaponry would have some kind of armed escort.

Problem is, someone with more tanks and maybe even a tank factory will be wanting them back!

Rofl. Why not station a carrier in the region with a squad of seals on call and simply drop them onto any hijacked ship? There's been so many reports of piracy around the coast of somalia in the past years, you'd think a few foreign nations would have taken to protection of their interests.

Strange thing is most of the world just depends on the united states to combat piracy.
Then they turn around and say we aren't the world-police when we do something on land. pfft

Sorry, but aircraft carriers with SEALs were never meant to be OMGWTFBBQ pirate-farming PWNmobiles.

The pirates themselves are usually just a bunch of guys in dinghies, making them practically undetectable. And once they get on board a freighter, they then have hostages, meaning no-one dares board for fear of a massacre. And they usually steer straight for lawless Somalia, and promptly disappear off the figurative radar. The only real way to stop piracy is to have ships properly defended in the first place.
Incidentally, a US military oil tanker got hit by pirates in Somalia just the other day. Obviously, being US military, they just shot at them until it stopped being a problem. Still, all interesting.

At first I thought you were A) talking about carriers in EVE, and B) talking about seals in the sense of "orp orp i'm a seal! :D"

30 t-72 tanks hardly constitutes any real threat tbh
most notable instance you may remember involving this piece of hardware was how well they burned in the deserts of iraq during gulf war 1-2 . hardly decent lewts . it's literally a cheap mass produced tank from the 70's . if these guys kept them the United states could clean them up with armed prdator uav's in a coupla days for lolz .

for a country that can field M1's, or Leopards, yes, but for a 3rd world country?
it's hardly not a threat of gigantic proportions. ---

And actually there is a multinational taskforce patrolling the waters off Somalia, I believe as part of Operation Enduring Freedom. The French navy has so far been the most aggressive in retrieving hostages, but each country's ships are bound by the mandate issued by their home nation. With the result that the UK's warships do not engage for fear of violating the pirates' human rights and that they might ask for asylum. The German navy frigates are allowed to patrol but not allowed to initiate combat, only return fire if attacked themselves. It's a pretty weird situation when you consider the amount of damage piracy does so close to the only route to the Suez Canal.

... I'm damaged, it seems..
because when I read the title, the *first thing* that ran through my mind was:
small video of clip of Serpentis pirates opening up the holds of a freighter, and seeing a plethora of WoW-warriors (the "I can't do any damage, but I have a lot of armor"-type).

You know, this would be an epic way to sell arms to pirates. Get cash, then tell then when and where, get them to "pirate" it, then you're in the clear. Everybody thinks you're innocent.
"But we were going to supply the government..."
