So finaly it seems ccp didd somthing with the lag!
The last two day's i fougth in a numer of fleet figths! 200vs200 with lot's of carriers and figthers.! Normaly this whuld be laggy as f**** with 5-10 min module lag and half the pepole not loading the grid!
Last nite i had maximun 2-3 Second's lag! My grid loaded instantly and i was able to lock my targets just as fast as normal!
This is actaly fantastic! Thanks CCP for doing somthing rigth! Keep doing it and it wil be fantastic again :D

Fair point.
Or how "there's no lag CCP what the hell?!"
Everything passes, but whines linger like bad gas.
I wonder now that the lag is becoming less of an issue, how long it takes for people to complain that they can't bring 800 vs 800 ships in combat. And also, can we have mines back now?

Dont worry! If 200v200 fights are ok now... ppl will just take 400 on each side and moan that its still laggy.

Yeah it's like i've always said, you can't fix lag as the amount of lag reduced correlates directly with the amount of lag produced by players. |

ROFL... not been in many fleet battles have you?? If you would you would know it is like throwing a dice... if you get 6 you will have the possibility to survive the blob... anything else... ah well.. I guess you finally hit the 6 this time.
Lag hasn't been solved and it hasn't gotten 1 bit better...

Just quoting a post won't do it.

Goodluck with herding/controlling 800 people and using vent (that is if vent could even handle that many people) You would have to break it down and it would be pretty sloppy. |

This is actaly true. Just had 1200pepole in the same system (m-o) figthing! The server was realy holding ok, 20-30sec module lag.
But then the node crashed, and the server got roled back.(After the hostile fleet was triple DDD and all died) and now alive again. Now it's just the normal "play mineswiper and watch the loading screen"
And yeah CCP didd a good thing, let's hope they can fix more inn m-o now :D

I was disappointed. M-O is supposedly a fast dedicated node atm.
I jumped in, 754 in local. 10 minutes nothing visible at all (not even my ship). Relogged and still waiting to enter game while others think the node is fine ...
Somehow the server still doesn't treat all connections equally.

Good job CCP.
TBH I can't see a difference between not loading for half an hour then dying before seeing anything with 200 in local on a non-dedicated node and the same thing happening with 700 on a dedicated node.

Bottom line is that there was a significant improvement without even touching the hardware or bulk of the processing. Whether or not that was sufficient for your purposes isn't the point - the point is that it isn't "impossible" to improve and it isn't beyond the scope of modern technology as has been stated quite frequently in the past by people who had no idea what they were talking about.
This isn't a "fix" but its a good step in the right direction and I'm hope we'll continue to see improvements like this in the future.

How about not being able to log in?
And why does the ship appear in space before you can have control over it? Making it killable while you are still in your character selection screen.
nuts.

IYHO. IMO the question whether the game is playable at all (whether with 2s module lag or 20s) is the only interesting point for now for the majority of people who never loaded. Once it is playable, we can discuss whether there is an improvement or not.
PS. I'm still trying to log in 2 hours after my first attempt...

Well I'll hazard a guess that for the vast majority of the playerbase the new code is like a gift from thier favorite deity with the effect of pretty much slaying the lag monster for good even in Jita. The small minority of the fleet fight playerbase however is still going to need the new hardware toys promised in the infiniband upgrade to see the true payoff of the new code. Srry guys but a 500~800ish ship fight needs an almost exponential increase in server power vs all the other stuff thats done in eve on a daily basis. Does it suck being the last in line to get the new shiney? Of course it does but at least there is a new shiney to be had and your fleet fight woes will eventually get sorted out. Plus one potential silver lining that might help is that all this cool stuff with the new network layer has happened with it only deployed serverside. Who knows how much moar of an improvement we will get with the client getting the same new code in a few moar hours.

uh-uh ... moar promises. I'm holding my breath, not.
In the mean time I will once again regret trying to play this game for 2 hours that I could have spent otherwise, just because a big fight was scheduled. Thanks CCP for the huge improvement for people who can log in at all ...

split em all up into smaller fleets on different vent servers, n then have the FC's of each on teamspeak/skype with the actual FC? |

Yeah don't hold your breath cause you got about a year or so give or take a few months until the rest of the new shiney is deployed and we wouldn't want you to die before then of sids and miss all the smoothy goodness. Also plz point out the specific dev blog that ever promised your fleet fight lag/node crash issues would be solved RIGHT NOW!

File a stuck petition and go do absolutely anything at all in eve nearly lag free except for a major fleet fight then?
