@ OP: Yeah, she's a *****, for sure. What a lame thing to get upset about. BUT it's still your fault - you have to just avoid any sort of curse-word. 'Crap' could have easily be 'stuff' with no chance of offending anyone. Like the guy up there ^ said, you have to hold back sometimes to make life easy for yourself.
I work in this horrible modern corporate world too - for one of the world's largest software companies - and I maintain a strictly informal tone in my emails, but I'd never use a curse word or innuendo. I've never had any complaints and I know a lot of folks actually appreciate the informality.
in short, play smarter and don't give anyone any cause or reason to complain about you. I sit around half the day reading the forums, and everyone thinks the sun shines out of my arse |

I wouln't say no chance of offending anyont... "I'm gonna rip yer head off and stuff down your neck" still seems pretty offensive. 
But I agree, I'm a lawyer and deal with some pretty stupid people asking if they can sue for stuff. I just politely say that in a perfect world they may be able to seek action, but unfortunately we don't live in a perfect world.
