Actually the whole sequence is wrong and the body would be discovered.
When you kill your target you have to use an icicle, afterwards throwing it in the sink to melt. Be sure to have plenty of bleach handy to clean up as bleach destroys blood.
In the next step you carve up the body and place it in various boxes filled with rocksalt and lined with plastic, along with several heavy rocks in the bottom for weight. The rocksalt will soak up any blood and mummify the body parts masking any oder. Ship said boxes to a PO box on the coast that you've opened.
At your convenience travel to the coast and rent a boat. Drive several miles out until you've passed the national borders line and release said cargo into the sea. |

We weren't discussing the 'best' way to dispose of a body, we were discussing how the method described in the book would end up :) |

Yeah but that fashion was played to death by the mobsters in Chicago and NYC in the '30's and 40's, cept they usually didn't bother killing them first. |

If she brings a rope and a block of concrete, get the hell out of there!
It should not have, but this caught me totally offguard. Now my coworkers are wondering why I suddenly burst out laughing....

Here's a better method...
Get a really big canvas sack, or a duffel bag in a pinch. Pour about fifty pounds of concrete in the bottom, and after it sets cut a series of one-inch holes just above the concrete. Make sure to reinforce the holes with stainless steel rings. Weave a length of rope around the top of the bag, such that if you pull on the rope it pulls the bag shut.
Now stuff whatever you don't want to ever see again in the bag, tie the bag shut, and throw it overboard. Preferable someplace past the continental shelf. |

Don't ask why I know this; but there are two important things.
Cold water (slightly above freezing) will inhibit the growth of bacteria in the corpse and the body will stay deep under water.
In warm water, the body will quickly bloat due to the bacterial emissions displacing much of the interior cavities with gas. However, the body will only be in this balloon state for which is shorter the warmer it gets. Once the vaccuum of the interior is breached, the body will sink like a rock.
Bodies don't hold up well under water, regardless, because extended periods of time under water will cause our flesh to literally dissolve, as we are *basically* miscible in water. Temperature of the water is directly proportional to the time it takes us to dissolve. |

What happens if you take a living person and mostly submerge them permanently, with them all tubed up to keep them alive? |

Hmz. semi-educated biology guess: their skin will take up loads and loads of liquid eventually and start to disintegrate after a long time. (much like the wounds you get when lying in a hospital bed for months on ends). They'll die after awhile from over hydration, but may be a long time. Human bodies are pretty good at maintaining their steady state.

It will start with severe dermatitis before more and more layers of skin start to peel off.
But living skin is very resilient, so it will take a long time :)
/edit - the biggest danger would be spending prolonged periods in salt water, depending on the salt concentrations it can lead to cellular explosions :) _______________ Pwett CEO, Founder, & Executor <Q> QUANT Hegemony

An absurd degree of prunage. __________________________
